We had the good fortune of connecting with RayCee the Artist and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi RayCee, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued photography because I love having the freedom to be as creative as I want to be. Photography is such a fun career because of the subjectivity. You can have several different photographers shoot the same scene and end up with very different final photographs of the exact same scene. Everyone has their own style when it comes to how they photograph and how they edit their photographs. That is the great thing about photography. The subjectivity and creativity involved in photography make it fun, and never boring. Photography is art.  It is all about being creative and unique, which is why I love it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My photography consists mainly of portrait photography and event photography. I have shot portrait sessions in parks and beaches, for example. The different types of events which I have shot consist of boxing fights, charity events, speaker events, and weddings, for example. I also have my own photography studio, which is where I conduct my studio sessions.

Before I started my photography business, I was involved in something which I did not enjoy. I was miserable doing it, so I made the choice to change career paths. I believe that it is so important to do something you love, and that is why I decided to pursue my passion, which is photography. Getting to the point where I am at now was not easy, but I had great help and support along the way. I have surrounded myself with the right people, and they have helped give me guidance and support.

I have learned that no matter what you have done in the past, it is never too late to pursue what you desire. If you have the dedication and passion, you can accomplish it.

In my photography business, I always make sure to give my clients the best experience possible. I want them to feel comfortable and know that I will always do my best to create and deliver amazing images for them. If my clients are happy, then I have done my job successfully. The client experience is everything to me.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My best friend Paola lives in Brazil, and if she were to visit Los Angeles, I would definitely take her to Disneyland and Universal Studios Hollywood. I am a big fan of theme parks, so those two places are a must. I would also want to go out to some nice restaurants around the city and the beach. Finally, a trip out to Las Vegas would also be on the itinerary.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have to thank some people for helping me out in my photography career. I would like to thank my friends Sam Watson and Fatanah LaFleur, who have been amazing by allowing me to photograph events which they are a part of. Sam is involved in organizing PBC boxing events, and Fatanah is in Public Relations, so she is involved in many different types of events.

I would also like to thank my beautiful friend Paola Stresser for being an inspiration to me as a photographer. She is an amazing photographer as well, and when I first started my photography business, Paola is the one person who I always spoke to about photography.

Also, my friend and mentor Sam Turchin (great wedding photographer) has been extremely helpful to me by always answering any photography questions I have. Sam was always so willing to help me when I first started out, and I am very grateful for that.

Finally, I would like to thank my father for always supporting me with whatever I choose to do.
