We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebecca Picker and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebecca, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
Kids inspire me. Their openness, excitement, creativity and willingness to take risks and try new things.
The next generation is truly ready for a better world and they deserve it.
Their eagerness for truth inspires me to plant seeds for change.
Their hearts and minds are open and I feel responsible and passionate about guiding them towards a better world.
Using art as a bridge to big conversations relevant to today and also as a space beyond words, binaries, and judgement where they can imagine for themselves the world they want to see and the person they want to be.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m Rebecca and identify as an Artist, Mama, Community Builder, Changemaker and Educator

Working with thousands of students over the course of 25+ years has shown me the transformative potential of art.

After nearly 10 years of running a thriving art studio for kids I launched Studio Sprout Online.

This was partially born out of the pandemic but mostly inspired by movements of social, environmental and educational changes that I’m passionate about contributing to. Knowing how much fun kids and families were having with my lessons at home and realizing that I could create positive change on a greater scale by taking my program online and making accessible for parents, homeschooler and teachers…improving lives and inspiring positive change on an exponential level.

Last year we designed and launched an entire video library of art lessons prioritizing accessibility and ease.

Studio Sprout isn’t just your average art program.

Our library of art video’s is full of creative art projects that encourage the young changemakers of today.

Our cross-curricular art lessons are you unique because they integrate science, social studies, earth stewardship, and mindfulness.

We are using art as a bridge to:

Discuss meaningful and relevant topics

Inspire young voices of today to create change

Foster a deeper connection to our earth and it’s needs

Nurture creative thinking and problem solving

Build confidence and critical thinking

Parents are using it at their kitchen tables and teachers are bringing it right inside the classroom to innovate their curriculum.

Studio Sprout brings fun and color to learning and makes big topics accessible to young kids.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Megan Schiller of the Art Pantry

I would have never opened my children’s art studio without her nudge.

I would also like to give my husband, Matt Sheltz, props. He has helped bring Studio Sprout Online to fruition and we have been able to expand our community and support new parents, homeschoolers and teachers with quality cross-curricular art lesson.
