We had the good fortune of connecting with Rebekah Laur’en and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rebekah, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I chose a creative career because it allows me to forge a path that is uniquely my own, and I hope to inspire others to embrace their own authenticity as well. During a period when I stopped creating, I felt like a mere shadow of myself. My art is deeply rooted in the idea of sharing; I believe that gifts are meant to be given, not kept. By sharing my work, I aim to contribute positively to my community and society, hoping to spark a shift toward something better.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is a reflection of my journey and the deep connection I have with my own creativity. What sets me apart is my commitment to authenticity and the way I strive to infuse my work with a genuine sense of purpose and emotion. I believe that art should not only resonate with others but also inspire them to embrace their own true selves.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the way my work has evolved over time. I’m particularly excited about the recent music I’ve been working on, which explores themes of transformation and self-discovery. This new project has allowed me to experiment with new techniques and materials, pushing the boundaries of my creativity in ways I hadn’t imagined before. Seeing the positive impact my art has had on people, sparking conversations and reflections, is incredibly fulfilling.

My journey to where I am today has been anything but easy. It’s been a path filled with challenges, from periods of self-doubt to the struggle of balancing artistic aspirations with practical realities. There were times when I felt like giving up, but perseverance and a deep-seated love for what I do kept me going. I’ve learned that resilience is crucial, and sometimes the best way to overcome obstacles is to embrace them as opportunities for growth. Each challenge has taught me valuable lessons about patience, adaptability, and the importance of staying true to my vision.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is the significance of community and support. My journey has been shaped not just by my own efforts, but by the encouragement and guidance of those around me. It’s a reminder that while individual creativity is important, collaboration and support are equally vital.

I want the world to know that my art is more than just a personal expression; it’s a shared experience meant to connect, inspire, and uplift. My brand and my story are rooted in the belief that art has the power to transform and heal, and I hope that through my work, others find a sense of their own authenticity and potential. My goal is to create a space where people feel seen and inspired, and where they can find their own voice and path through the beauty of artistic expression.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I am deeply grateful for the incredible support network that has been a cornerstone of my journey. My mother has been my unwavering anchor, consistently guiding me with her wisdom and helping me see the broader perspective when I’ve felt lost. Her support has been instrumental in keeping me focused and on track. My entire family has been a pillar of strength for me, providing the encouragement and backing that many in this field often lack from their own families. I am profoundly thankful for their unwavering belief in me.

My partner has also been a crucial part of my support system. She is my rock and my biggest cheerleader, always standing by my side and celebrating every milestone with me. Her encouragement means the world to me.

I’ve been fortunate to learn from some remarkable mentors throughout my journey. I had two voice instructors that made a major impact on me, Ms. Fleta Hylton and another, Ms. Catania, and I had an amazing choral director, Dr. Joe Miller, who played significant roles in shaping my skills and understanding. Their guidance and belief in my potential have been invaluable, though there are many more who have contributed to my growth and whom I hold in high regard.

In terms of reading, books have been a constant source of inspiration and guidance for me. Some of the most impactful reads include “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway” by Susan Jeffers, which has helped me confront and overcome my fears; “Winning” by Tim S. Grover, which has fueled my drive and determination; “Be Useful” by Arnold Schwarzenegger, which has inspired me to channel my efforts meaningfully; “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, which has provided practical strategies for personal growth; and “The Power of Awareness” by Neville Goddard, which has deepened my understanding of the mind’s potential.

I am truly blessed to have such a supportive community around me, and I carry their influence with me every day, feeling deeply fortunate for their presence in my life.
