We had the good fortune of connecting with Rhonna Del Rio and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rhonna, how does your business help the community?
Last year 2020 (aka covid) put a very interesting plot-twist on our entire world! Although it has been less than a year since my last ShoutoutLA interview, I feel like it’s been much longer when I take a look at what has happened last year in all of our lives! I’d like to think that since the last interview my services have really been an active part in helping people feel supported where once they did not need any support. Locally, I help them re-imagine working spaces at people’s homes through my side job/passion for space-harmony consultation using the philosophy of Feng Shui and my architecture background to promote better flow energy for the a lot of work-home scenarios during covid and others I help with special healing-art commissions to hang on the walls that they now realize is too un-loved and bare to stare at while working from home. Internationally, I believe that launching an online store allows the inspiration of art-for-healing to reach more homes and hearts! Original art pieces that people are connecting and resonating with from my collection are now more readily available in a more affordable way in times like we are in. This is a game changer for me in a huge way because so many times people have told me that they love or really want a piece of art but that maybe one day they can afford to have it in their homes. It broke my heart each time . The year 2020 sparked and birthed the passion to do something about it, I knew I had to find a way to make it more available and affordable! Our shop donates part of each purchase to a non-profit with a good cause to help survivors of sexual trauma. It is very close to my heart and is called KISS ( keepitsacredsister.org) please check it out!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The products we design in our new online store aims to be part of everyone’s healthy living, and to spark the idea of a healthy HEARTSTYLE! What does that mean? For me, it means to see everything not always first from our minds but to first check in with the heart. Checking in with my heart firstly has been my saving grace in a lot of decision making in my career and daily life. For example, artists are always asked what sets as apart from other artists?  If I had checked in with my mind first when answering this question, I would not be here today as an artist, because I would have been comparing  -skills- with others and I would have felt that I am not “enough” and most likely have stopped painting after my first canvas back in 2012. Always checking in with my heart first, allows me to see that our uniqueness as artists don’t set us apart from each other, but rather pulls us together because of the unspoken understanding of each other’s internal worlds as artists. Same really goes for everyone, we can’t compare ourselves from a mind point of view. We must always see each other from the heart’s eyes.

For 2021, I want to invite my community/ world  of all passions to RE-IMAGINE what needs re-imagining, RE-INVENT what needs re-inventing, and always RISE-UP AGAINST ALL ODDS! As been said  – Do what you love. Love what you do.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
How I long so much to have a friend visit in person during this covid times! My short and quick reply – ANYWHERE! I will go anywhere where it will mean I am with my best of friends!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
As I quickly mentioned earlier, www.keepitsacredsister.org aka KISS is a non-profit that launched during covid to support sexual trauma survivors. As one of the founding members and a survivor myself, I am proud of our fierce leader Delfina Ure and would love to give her a Shoutout for her courage and dedication to help out fellow survivors feel supported during this challenging year especially. Having this non-profit launch this year has really sparked my own fire to keep going to help support KISS (Keep it Sacred Sister).
