Meet Richie Abelia | Musician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Richie Abelia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Richie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe it was purely drive. It was something that I always wanted to do and I set my sights on it. Music was everything I wanted to do. I still work a normal job and everything, but someday I’d love to just live out my days doing music. I’m great with sticking with my goals!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I don’t think my art is necessarily better or worse than other artists. I think it’s just… simply me. I am most proud of the persistence I’ve held since I was 14 years old. I started on my path and I stuck with it. It took a long time, but I’m proud of the friends I’ve made during this adventure. It absolutely came with its difficulties, but it was well worth it. I watched so many videos on production and music, but also I had the best help. When it came to struggle, I just kept pushing. From relationships to bands… It became tough at times to juggle them, but I found my place eventually. I believe the biggest lesson I’ve learned is that you need to trust yourself. No one else will understand your struggles the way you do. Always do what you need to do for you, but also be kind. Love yourself and those around you. I suppose the only thing I would want the world to know is that I’m here and I’ll continue to try and make the best music I can.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my best friends was visiting and I wanted to show them the best time, I’ve become somewhat of a foodie. So we’d definitely find ourselves at a great restaurant. if we’d like have some drinks and simply talk about life. There are some great local spots here in my area. I personally love our spot here called Winchester Goose. It’s a really relaxed bar with great owners (I love you, Arik!) If we didn’t feel up to that, I’d probably take them to for a day trip out to the coast. There’s nothing more healing to me than breathing ocean air and listening to some music.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to shout out all of my friends and family that have stuck with me during this process. I’d like to thank Jordan Blake for being a great mentor and friend. He truly helped me become the musician I am today. Thanks to Nick Miller ( A Skylit Drive) for helping me simply learn and develop my skills in production. He’s truly a great person! I’d like to thank my Mom for always loving me and being the best mom you could ever ask for. Thanks to Melissa and Calen for being such amazing friends after the loss of one of my best friends. I really appreciate you! I thank my wife, Chelsea, for being my biggest supporter of them all. Without her… I wouldn’t be who I am without her. She’s amazing!
