We had the good fortune of connecting with Rob Write and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rob, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
To be honest, I never really thought about starting a business, it all kind of happened incrementally. My passion first and foremost was music and then production soon followed. I started by filling a need in my church’s music department, then I started to get curious on how the lights, sound board, and cameras worked. After that it became an obsession leading me into wanting to do this as a career and therefore turning it into a full time business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I grew up in a house full of music; Mostly everyone on my mom’s side of the family sings or plays an instrument so my love for music has always been there but I was too shy to express myself. Although we were free to express ourselves in my household, the outside world wasn’t so forgiving – being that I am a preacher’s kid. So I held music in and played sports throughout high school. I met a producer friend of mine my junior year of high school, Rex, who found out that I sang and he invited me over to record in his home studio. That is where I started learning more about song-writing structure and recording music. After high school I went to the art institute in Los Angeles and studied audio engineering for a few years. I wound up dropping out of my classes due to tough family times and the loss of one of my best friends to suicide. It wasn’t until then that I realized I needed to find a way to really express myself and that’s when I decided to start writing and taking music seriously. At that time I knew life was too short to be held down by other’s thoughts and opinions of me and I just jumped into it and I’ve been doing music ever since.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I grew up in Oxnard California and if you have ever been here you know its all about the good Mexican food, shopping centers and beaches . One of my favorite food places is el Tapatio they got the best burritos! Also our local fruit venders make the best cucumber cups with chili and lemon its definitely a must try. The newly built “Collections” is the place to go for shopping and live entertainment.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I always start by giving thanks to God. I am a firm believer that without him nothing is possible. I also would like to give thanks to my family, to my amazing Mother who shows me how to love unconditionally and to my Dad aka Pops who continues to show me how to lead by example and encourages me to always go after my dreams. Last but definitely not least, to all my loved ones that surround me and constantly support me and push me to become better everyday, thank you!
