Meet Robert Leckington | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Robert Leckington and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Robert, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
Having to decide the right road to take. I’m constantly struggling with this very same question, even today. I’m always trying to pick the road less taken, but it seems that whichever road I end up taking, it always seems to be the most popular road, and I fall behind. I’m always competing. And it’s tough to be a competitor here in the NYC area as an actor. I welcome challenges, they will always make me a better actor.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am an actor, a musician, a writer, photographer. A producer. I am “Talented. Period.” This is how I introduce myself to a lot of industry folks. I also believe that it sets me apart from a lot of actors because I encompass a lot more than just being an actor. Don’t get me wrong, being a specialist in any definitive area of expertise is always a good thing. One just needs to be able to be a lot more active because there really is plenty of competition as an actor here in New York. The idea of being an actor is so appealing to a lot of people. Casting Directors love new faces, and if you can give them what they want, well you’re in it.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
That’s a tough one. There are plenty of favorite spots I have. I’d say that Times Square is up there because it is so electric there! Literally and figuratively. I like being in the “old world” sections of New York City because I love the tree lined streets and the Brownstone tenements. Some have cobble stone streets in other areas. Greenwich Village is another spot I like with Washington Square Park near NYU. There are a lot of creative people who hang there. New York City is so vast on such a small island. There is so much to see and do there. There are so many communities spread out all over the city. If one has never been to NY, then you really are missing out.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My entire family, friends, representatives. It’s a long list that would take longer than an Oscar’s Award acceptance speech, but if I had to choose one person who has always been at the forefront of helping me to pursue a lifetime love of art, music, and culture it would be my deceased grandmother Joyce A. Eben. I will always sing my grandmother’s praises because she was a very smart, entrepreneurial, and amazingly apathetic person when it came to creativity and the love of the artistic pursuit. Without her dedication to helping me be a better creative, I’d probably not be as good as I am now. She pushed me, in a positive way, to find myself artistically. And for that I will always love and adore my grandmother. My guiding light.
