We had the good fortune of connecting with Robin Goins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Robin, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Some nuances that I feel many people don’t understand are the different functions of events.

1, Event Planners and Coordinators are logistical professionals.
2. Planners/Coordinators pair couples with vendors that align with their vision as well as create an execution plan with contingencies for “hiccups.”
3. Event Planners/Coordinators may also be able to provide event design also.
4. Event Planners may also have a team they leverage if the client requires event set up not being provided by other vendors (i.e., the florist, DJ, photobooth, lighting, catering, etc.)
5. Event Coordinators and Venue Coordinators do NOT provide the same services.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Throughout my professional career I have had the pleasure of working with various levels of management and personality types on many projects. In a way this experience has prepared me for my clients. Each of my clients have the same “end goal” – a successful event. However, each client is unique in what they want the event to look and feel like. It is my job to ask the questions; craft a plan that will achieve that goal; and execute the plan as flawlessly as possible with achieving “the goal.” For me, a successful event is in the planning but also in the guest experience during the event.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My entire family – especially by husband, Mom, brother and sister. Their prayers, and words of encouragement, and faith in me never fell on deaf ears. It may have taken me a while to start the engine of this dream; but I am ready for the journey.
