Meet Rod The Pro | Music Producer/Hip Hop Artist/Multi-instrumetalist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rod The Pro and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rod The Pro, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
One of the most important decisions that I have made towards my success is being able to use my authentic personality to the music that I create. I strongly believe that an individual is successful once they have achieved a goal that was embedded in the heart from the start.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I can produce a variety of musical styles. However, my heart is driven from the vintage boom bap New York sound of hip hop music. But I had the opportunity to be a musician in the beginning, meaning I taught myself how to play percussion instruments, eventually leading to keyboard-based instruments like synthesizers and pianos. I love the idea of someone giving me a music assignment, but having the ability to translate that idea into what they want, and loving the result of their satisfaction. I will admit that it is not always an easy task because hard work requires overcoming challenges, but it pays off in the end after maintaining focus. That is one of the biggest lessons that I have learned as an artist. Even when I am creating my own projects, I know that the entire world may not like it, so I might as well make the music that I want anyway. Authentic and pure listeners have been the ones to give me great feedback. I would like the world to know that I strive to be funky at all times as a hip hop producer, but can be versatile in other music genres depending on the artist and their vision. I am an artist that is serious about my art and always want my music to be fun to listen to.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Depending on what they like to eat, I would take them to the best rated places, but places that I have been myself of course. I might give them a hip hop lesson by taking them to a record store. I could take them to the best spots where everyone likes to be, but match our age group. I just want to be a good balance of a host.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate my Shoutout to Tre Woodard, the owner of The Tresoul Network. The company has given me a logo and design foundation for my brand. They also gave me the opportunity to produce music for their advertisements, which includes many of their business clientele.
