Meet Roderic Martez | Photographer, model, content creator, MBA Candidate

We had the good fortune of connecting with Roderic Martez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roderic, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Recently I was laid off from a job I had been employed with since my junior year of college. Even though I was not the fondest of my role, it provided a quality of life and level of stability I was comfortable with.

However at the core of my existence I have always been a creative (Modeling, commercials, music. Content creation). These hobbies and talents have always provided extra money and I had always wanted to lean into those passions to create a life for myself. The loss of my job gave me the push I needed to officially file my LLC and start my photography business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’ve learned that the type of person I am is one that fixates on whatever I choose to do at the moment. This does come with its disadvantages however, in my opinion it allows me the opportunity to master every aspect of my creative identity. I know my statements may seem pretty broad however I don’t like to niche myself into a box. Even tho I have modeled with brands such as Audi, Adidas, Crocs, Ugg and even the MLB, I would never identify as just a model I am a creative. I am Roderic Martez the creative, the YouTuber, the model, the photographer, the influencer and I think the beauty of all of this is I am of a generation to truly believe all of these goals will happen for myself because they are attainable and that is true power.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Although it may be a little cliché, my mother has always been the only support I have ever needed. Not to say I don’t appreciate everyone who supports me along the way but I was raised in an environment where I was allowed to feel, and explore my talents and what I wanted to do with them. This support was unconditional as I knew if I believed in my self so did she. Down every path my mom had been the biggest champion for my creative endeavors, so much so, that when I do something new even my mother is surprised. “Oh, another one”.
