Meet Rodrigo Ramos

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rodrigo Ramos and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rodrigo, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
My approach to work life balance has evolved as I’ve focused on managing my mental health and balancing social life with work and studies. Initially, I struggled with anxiety and depression due to overwork, but I’ve since learned the importance of setting boundaries and prioritizing self-care.
I’ve become more aware of how stress affects my mental health, leading to clearer boundaries between work and personal time. I now schedule regular breaks and leisure activities, recognizing that rest is crucial for managing stress and maintaining productivity.
I view work and social life as interconnected rather than separate, integrating them in a way that enhances overall satisfaction. My balance approach is adaptable. I regularly reassess my commitments and adjust my schedule to better align with my mental health needs.
I see balance as a dynamic, ongoing process rather than a fixed state. Regular reflection and adjustment help ensure that my professional responsibilities and personal well-being are harmoniously aligned, allowing me to maintain a healthier, more balanced life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a professional violinist, my art is deeply intertwined with my personal journey of perseverance and dedication. What sets me apart is not just the technical skill and emotional depth in my performances, but also the resilience and determination that have shaped my path.
My commitment to the violin goes beyond the music itself. It’s a reflection of the sacrifices I’ve made and the challenges I’ve overcome. The struggles like taking long, two-hour bus rides to classes with little to no food have forged a unique perspective in my art. This journey has instilled a profound appreciation for every note and performance, infusing my music with a distinctive depth and authenticity.
I am incredibly proud of how far I’ve come, from facing significant hardships to now holding a rewarding position in my field. The ability to support my family and inspire my students is a tremendous source of fulfillment. The joy of creating music that resonates with others and the opportunity to pass on my knowledge is something I cherish deeply.
Getting to where I am today was far from easy. The journey involved numerous challenges, including financial strain and physical exhaustion. However, my passion for the violin and unwavering support from my family fueled my perseverance. I faced these obstacles head-on by staying focused on my goals, seeking out opportunities for growth, and finding strength in my love for music.
The key lessons I’ve learned include the value of resilience, the importance of embracing challenges as growth opportunities, and the power of perseverance. Each difficulty taught me to appreciate the journey and the people who supported me along the way.
I want the world to know that my story is a testament to the transformative power of dedication and love for one’s craft. My journey as a violinist is not just about the music I create but also about the resilience it took to reach this point. My brand is built on the principles of hard work, sacrifice, and the joy of sharing my passion with others. Every performance is a tribute to all the challenges I have overcome and a celebration of the support that has made it possible.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For an unforgettable week in Milwaukee and of course with a focus on the vibrant music scene, I would start the week with brunch at Blue’s Egg, a popular spot known for its creative breakfast dishes. Dive into Milwaukee’s music scene by visiting The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra for a performance at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts. Breathtaking! Explore the Harley-Davidson Museum to see a slice of American culture, then head to The Rave/Eagles Club for an evening concert. This iconic venue features a range of live music acts from various genres.
For a taste of local flavor, have lunch at The Milwaukee Public Market, then wander the Historic Third Ward and its unique shops. Enjoy dinner at Sanford, a highly regarded restaurant with a menu that highlights local ingredients.
On another day, grab breakfast at Colectivo Coffee, then check out Shank Hall, known for its intimate live music performances. Spend the afternoon at Discovery World for interactive exhibits and stunning lake views. Explore Mitchell Park Horticultural Conservatory (The Domes), then have dinner at Lake Park Bistro, which offers great food and views. In the evening, catch a show at Pabst Theater or The Turner Hall Ballroom, both renowned for their historic architecture and vibrant performances.
End the week with a visit to The Back Room at Colectivo, a cozy venue featuring live acoustic sets, and have your final dinner at Story Hill BKC, known for its farm-to-table dishes and inviting ambiance. This itinerary balances Milwaukee’s rich music scene with delicious dining and local attractions, ensuring a memorable visit.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Absolutely, I’d like to dedicate my shoutout to my family. Their unwavering support and encouragement have been instrumental in dealing with all the difficulties I’ve faced. In moments of stress and uncertainty, their love and understanding provided the strength I needed to persevere. They were my anchor during challenging times, always offering a listening ear, practical help, and emotional comfort. Their belief in me and their constant presence have made a profound difference in my journey. I’m deeply grateful for their commitment to my well-being and success. Thank you to my family for being my solid support system and for playing such a crucial role in my story.
