We had the good fortune of connecting with Roman Styles IV and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roman, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for taking risk. In order to get something you’ve never had you have to do things you don’t normally do. I had a vision of where I wanted to be and I took a leap of faith by leaving my good paying job to pursue my own endeavors. Not knowing how my bills were going to be paid, just had my son I mean the list goes on, but I trusted my intuition and my skills and went for it. Went from selling plates & meal preps thru social media to running my own meal prep company (Mealionairemealprep.com) and opening my first food truck (MacDaddyz) this summer. Risk are necessary. They open up new doors & they help you grow

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Cooking is one of the most purest forms of art, naturally we eat with our eyes & so presentation is key. Down to the dish your using, how you plate the food, how you sauce it, the garnish etc there is not one step in that process where art is not being utilized. I pride myself on the aesthetics when it comes to cooking & I make sure the flavor matches that which is what I think sets me apart. The dish can’t just look good it has to be delicious as well. Im excited about opening my first food truck this summer called Mac Daddy which will be a build your own mac n cheese bar, super dope menu & looking forward to sharing it with the world. Getting to this point definitely wasn’t easy, but then again nothing in life is ever easy. A lot of times I would lack motivation but one thing I did was stay consistent & that alone kept me on the path to progression. I knew in my heart this is what I was called to do & so I went for it. Ive learned to not focus on your competition or on anything other than your vision, do good business & make sure youre putting out a quality product that you would actually use. Hopefully my drive & passion for creating great food is what the world knows me for, my story is still being written when its all said & done I plan to go down as an innovator & leader in the food industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Im originally from the Pasadena area 20 mins from Los Angeles there’s plenty of activities, Hiking & the beach are all go to’s, we have great museums in which I love. With LA being a little melting point the variety of cuisines is endless, whatever your looking for we have here are a few of my favorite places Perrys Joint (Pasadena) great classic American sandwiches, Mi Piace (Pasadena) amazing Italian food, Bludso’s BBQ (LA) amazing bbq, Mardi Gras Tuesday “A taste of New Orleans” (LA) some of the best food I’ve ever had & The Hibachi food truck ( LA) is another place I would recommend. These are just a few of my fav options, We literally have everything. Theres plenty of places to visit as well I enjoy the LA county Arboretum, the LA Zoo, wine tasting in Malibu & Olvera street. The weather is usually perfect which makes finding things to do that much easier. Only downfall is traffic so plan ahead.
