We had the good fortune of connecting with Roniit and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roniit, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
My musical journey began at the age of 5 when I started piano lessons, but it wasn’t until later in life, fueled by a deep dive into death metal, that I considered it as a career. Inspired by metal, I formed my own band and ventured into booking shows. However, when the band broke up, I chose to remain independent. In 2011, I embarked on a solo project, dedicating nearly all my energy to it since. Despite trying various jobs and side hustles over the years, I consistently found myself frustrated, unable to fully immerse in my music. Through hard work, I’ve reached a point where I can exclusively focus on my music!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?

My music has always been a way for me to express how I feel at the moment, like a form of self-therapy. However, in the last couple years I’ve really shifted my writing towards magic, and intuition as I’ve found so much personal healing in crafting songs that feel like protection spells for myself and others.

My journey has been long and challenging at times, I feel like I’ve had to face a lot of failure, but I’ve always kept on going and tried new things. My work ethic and determination have been my driving forces; an innate desire to be productive and engaged in constant work has pushed me forward. Even through setbacks, I always strive for more and know that the years of continuous work bring so many lessons and, eventually, success.

The thing I am the most proud of is that I’ve never strayed from my belief in creating albums and magic surrounding those albums. Each album I’ve released has come with a ritual kit which usually includes a custom tea blend, crystals, a candle, and other items for the intended ritual that correlate to the album. For example – the last ritual kit for my album Bloom was for “self love” which was something I was learning as I created that album. The upcoming ritual kit is for increasing intuition which is what my upcoming album “Sixth Sense” is all about.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?

In my opinion the best thing about Los Angeles is the proximity to so many different landscapes. If I had a friend visiting for a week I would be sure to take them to the beaches in Malibu, the desert in Joshua Tree, and then I would bring them to the mountains where I’ve lived on and off for the year 8 years. I’m really a nature girl, so my time in Los Angeles would likely revolve around the food, since there aren’t as many options in the rural area where I live. My favorite restaurants are the hole in the wall asian places located in Monterey Park.  The authentic dishes at those restaurants cannot be found in most cities in the USA.

I think some of the best things to do in LA are attending underground warehouse events, or house parties where you never know who might show up to DJ, so I would be sure to show my friend that secret side of LA!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shoutout Shelby Lee Parks, she is my best friend and someone who is been monumental to my career and creativity. Shelby is a multifaceted artist and actress, but we mostly worked together on my visuals. Collaborating with her feels like entering a seamless flow, a shared creative wavelength where communication is intuitive. It’s as if we share a mind. Her art is a captivating blend of beauty, mystery, and darkness, a reflection of her emotions channeled into a beautiful portfolio that has shaped her career.
