We had the good fortune of connecting with Rosa Bella Jr. Izzy and Alejandro and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rosa Bella Jr., is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
Everyone always talks about how “competitive” the music industry is and although that is true, what they seem to constantly overlook is how vast and endless it also is. With new stars and acts glowing daily, we can compare it to the ever growing universe. We understand that there must be a specific combination of elements that have to come together and combust in order for life to flourish. It’s the same in music, you can be a master at your craft but if you don’t have the proper elements/people around you, it becomes nearly impossible to sustain a real musical life.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Our art is rooted in struggle. The struggle of finding ourselves in our realm of creation. The struggle of learning how to be not only good musicians but genuinely goodhearted individuals. We both are extremely proud of the fact that nothing was ever handed to us, we don’t come from a place a privilege, we never had past family members that were musicians or artists who gave us their old equipment or taught us anything musical we were never guided by any kind of mentors or people that willingly helped us craft our sound, we’re really just two brown boys that made it out the hood. We locked each other up in a room not knowing how to “properly” play instruments and just made sounds that made us happy. We both come from immigrant households where above all, respect and a strong work ethic are the pillars that allow us to understand that no matter what life throws at you, your resiliency, and consistency will always pay off. We are both well aware that our music is still unheard of by most, but that’s also what excites us, we feel it coming, we feel this wave of discovery that soon will hit us, with venues and locations finally opening up again we can’t wait to share our sounds with you all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We are both very grateful to live in Echo Park which is undoubtedly one of the coolest, most culturally diverse and unique cities in all of Los Angeles. We live on Sunset Blvd so If we had to show our lovely friends around we would give them the full LA experience. We live live walking distance from Dodger Stadium so we would most definitely catch a Dodger game! We’d enjoy and array of amazing food, street tacos from our friends at ‘Happy Tacos’ (1508 sunset), or some amazing Thai food at sticky rice, we would grab tons of drinks at our favorite local bars like The Douglas and El Prado. We are lucky to live down the street from The Echo where we can watch some of our favorite bands and artists when they come in to town. We would have a beautiful time at the echo park lake where we can talk for hours and listen to good music while enjoying some food and drinks. At night we would go out dancing at The Shortstop, Los Globos, or La Cita. We constantly run into the most eccentric and beautiful people in this city so we are proud of calling it our home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We would love to take the time to recognize one another. As best friends and musical partners we’ve always had each other’s backs, we have completely put in all the work and all the hours to create this musical baby that is rosabellajr. Though as we shared before, musical unions require other vital elements/individuals that help along the way. For example our amazing friend and audio engineer/musician Frankie Siragusa, we’ve enjoyed and have learned so much from every single moment we’ve shared with him. Also Our close family and friends that mean the world to us and forever support us. And all of the individuals that we have had the privilege to meet along the way and interact with regarding our art, we love you all.
