We had the good fortune of connecting with Rose Study and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rose, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking

Well life is all about taking chances and risk, if you never take a risk, you will always wish you could have or wonder what would happen if you did things different. Sometimes you just have to jump in the deep water. By starting my own business, it was a huge risk and scarry because my background was in finance/ lending, although I loved flowers and crafts for flowers, I had no knowledge of what I was getting into, I was just following my passion and it made room for me.

Please tell us more about your art. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today.
Well, I am proud of starting my own business.  I am the first in my family to do this.  Also, during the pandemic, I had a chance to complete my formal floral training now I am a Certified Floral Designer now. Next, I am working on my international designation.   Being self-employed is not for the meek, you must be willing to work harder and put in more hours than an employee.  I must say the rewards are great because your name is on it and you get paid for all your efforts. I also must say do not give up and master your craft you will see the fruit from your labor. 

What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Monica Beach, enjoy the sun and water then we would walk over to Venice beach, shop on the boardwalk.   We would have a basket lunch on the beach. The next day we would go to Downtown Disney, walk around, and enjoy the scenes, catch a movie then have dinner at Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen.  Next day we would go to 

 The Huntington Library, Art Museum, and Botanical Gardens enjoy the day have dinner downtown Pasadena.  Next day check out the Los Angeles floral mart then the garment district. Dinner on Olvera street.

Next day Getty Museum then Malibu beach Dinner on the beach.  Last few days drive to Big bear check out nice shops for souvenirs, do some hiking, enjoy delicious food then drive back. 

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to give a shoutout to my husband Kevin Study for allowing me to go on this journey and drag him along with me. He believed in me and pulled from his retirement funds to support me during the lean times. I must say this was my dream. He wanted to start a traffic school, since his background was in law enforcement and when that did not pan out, he was totally on board with the flowers. I absolutely love him for that. I would also like to thank all the teachers at “Floral Design Institute” and “CeCe Design School” for all my formal training and education. I felt stretched lots of times not knowing what the end results would be, they truly help me see beyond my fears.
