We had the good fortune of connecting with Roshaun Stephenson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roshaun, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I don’t believe in breaking down work, life, and balance into sub categories. I found that when I just focus on balance in general, it automatically takes care of everything else. I came to this conclusion after many failed attempts of work life balance and decided to try a simplified approach of just focusing on balance.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been in love with photography since I was 9 years old. I would look at magazines from front to back, admiring the images and fanaticizing about traveling to some of the destinations. I would also imagine myself traveling and having a camera, capturing things that I find to be intriguing. I wouldn’t say that anything sets me apart from anyone else but I will say that one of my superpowers is curiosity. When I find something that I am interested in, I want to know everything about it and fully immerse myself in learning the nuances. With that approach, I learn things along the way that somehow intersect with other interest, pursuits, and passions. Solidifying my neural pathways of creativity. What I want the world to know about my brand/story is that I don’t believe in the traditional wisdom of curiosity killing the cat. I believe curiosity is the intersection of learning and experiences.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are two people that come to mind with this question. The first is my grandmother. She taught my sister and I to be unrelenting with our goals. She also instilled the virtue/power of believing in yourself. I cannot have the expectation of someone else believing me if I don’t believe in myself.

The other person is my sister. We were both raised by the grandmother that I mentioned above. My sister is the epitome of unrelenting as she has been an entrepreneur from a young age. Hustling and not letting anyone or anything take her off her path. Its been inspiring to watch my little sister constantly grow while being relentless in her pursuit to make her dreams her reality.
