We had the good fortune of connecting with Shalonda A. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Shalonda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I wanted to have control of my own life. Make my own schedule and do what I was truly passionate about.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a self-trained makeup artist. I am more of a visual artist if I see it I can put my own spin on the look. I am a artist that goes by feeling. I listen to my clients and we co-create a look that fits who they are. I am a artist that listens to their clients. I am proud of the person I have become as a artist. I have grown in so many ways and learned to connect t with people on a more spiritual level . My career in makeup started by chance I loved looking a women creating looks in my mind. I started kind of late I was 26 when I figured out I had a artist eye. Two friends told me about working as a artist and it has been my passion. Being a artist in the Midwest was not easy you don’t have the demand for makeup artistry the way you would if you were on the east coast or west coast at that time. I have learned to never give up on what I love there has been times when I wanted to give up but I thought myself “There is no plan B”.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My Chiltern Anose, Ryan, Kamren and Peyton Hargress everything I do is to show them success is possible
