Meet Rotem Barazani | Dancer, choreographer, dance teacher

We had the good fortune of connecting with Rotem Barazani and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Rotem, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think risk is the “title” that we choose to put on the feeling ” what ever happens , happen”. this is also our way to understand we can control only what we can control of.
My belief is that it’s bigger than us- we are the one to take actions , to live our life and to fins the balance between trying to take responsibility and control on our life to let go and understand that there is something bigger than us that we can’t take control of (god, destiny , nature …..)
I find it hard to let go and live the phrase “what meant for you will always find its way to you” but I do believe in this.
So… for me, I do take the risk with big faith that my intuition is always right, that I can always find the way back home, to my center, to myself. and as much as leaving home to fulfill my dreams is not easy , I know that following my intuition is the best risk I can take on this one lifetime that I got

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Im so proud of myself for never give up on this visa. to always remember the “why”- why I want to achieve higher, to remember my love for dance and my willing to live my life to the fullest .
This has been one of the toughest years in my life . With all the pain that happened at home, the war, the lives that have been taken and fear and the unstoppable pain I always choose to keep going , to see the light and seed love into what I do and my surroundings . The visa process wasn’t easy at all at this difficult year but I chose to believe in myself and in my dreams.
Dance has been my life since I remember myself . I always loved music, movement and preforming . since my childhood I remember the big smile I had on stage with the lights and the audience , the way I always love to create and improvise. all of it is big part of me and I have pure love to it that Im trying to keep even if Im in the adults phrase of dancing .
at the end of the day it keeps my sane.
I dance because this is what Im here for, I teach dance from love and caring , I am aware that dancing is way of life and saving life. its all about love at the end of the day

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take her to watch a class and then to take a class even if she is not a dancer. the videos on social media can’t show the real energy and experience in dance class!
I would take her to a club or a bar to just vibe and hear good music, we are coming from different culture and the music sometimes is so different .
I would take her to the beautiful LA landscapes and mountains to breath air and just to feel on top of the world for a little bit.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family, my people and my students at home will forever be my main source. so the first shoutout is for them!!
When I got to LA for the first time I got to train with Troupe Dance Company , it was the first time I ever experience this kind of training program. Everyone was so nice, welcoming , patient and friendly . the way Antoine Troupe (the owner and the mentor of TDC) lead the dancers to find themselves is incredible. By talking and exploring through freestyle and life experiences.. all of this program gave me a lot of information about the dance industry and tools to become better individual dancer and person to myself in my dance career. They help me understand that to help someone grow to be better self is to see him and support him as he is- giving the tools and motivation to grow without trying to change anything is the best way to grow. Everything is a process and we all have to be patient and consistent with out training and growing process and to show our surroundings and to ourselves love and support .
