We had the good fortune of connecting with Rouxx and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Rouxx, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
It’s true what they say “no risk, no reward”. I have a family who depends on me to provide for them and every day I have to choose between taking a desk job where I may be miserable or continue to hustle as hard as I can to make it as an artist and make a living doing it. It’s the only way I can be truly happy and fulfilled. At the end of all the hard work, the payoff is going to be great. Not just monetarily but feeling accomplished in what I set out to do with my life. Success is a state of mind and is purely in your control. It just depends on how hard you are willing to work for it.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m a singer first but its not enough to just be able to sing anymore. If you want to be an artist in todays entertainment industry, you need to be able to do it all. I do all of my own graphic design work from album art to merchandise. I produce, write and engineer as well. I do work with a lot of very talented producers and writers but I usually demo songs out myself and can go into the studio and be hands on with my art being able to contribute more than just my voice to the songs. It definitely is a struggle to feel like you constantly have to be creative and create your best work all the time but i’m grateful that I have the skills and ability to do it. Theres nothing worse than being on a deadline and having to wait on someone to make something happen for you. It feels good to be able to do things yourself on your own time. Not to mention it saves you a ton on money.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA in the Valley. It’s easy to forget and hard to see the magic of LA when you are raised here but I would definitely take friends to see a Hollywood concert and the Bowl, walk Hollywood Blvd and hit a few valley house parties. I love the valley. It’s definitely a more of a chill vibe. Theres some amazing sushi restaurants out here too. Universal Studios is a lot of fun too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to shoutout my team and family. They are the most important people in my life. My support group. The people who’s opinions I trust and can confide in. My wife Katie has stood by my side through thick and thin and continues to inspire me to be great very day. My manager Amanda who takes on the brunt of all things Rouxx and makes sure that my vision is always portrayed and executed the way I want it. And lastly my fans who fulfill me and give me a reason to keep creating. I thrive on personal connection and to have people tell me that I helped them through a hard time or that they relate to what I write about makes me feel connected to them on a deeper level.
