We had the good fortune of connecting with Roxana Izquieta and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Roxana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had been wanting to start my own business for a long time now. I use to manage a beautiful little luxury boutique in Studio City, Ca. that was right onVentura Blvd. back in 2014 for a few years and said one day I’d like to have a small business like this of my own. I just decided to do it. I came up with a name I liked, also things I wanted to make and sell. Throughout the process I started evolving artistically, finally creating a website for my abstract paintings.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Let’s start out with sculptural candles are truly unique. People love them and they make great gifts and decor. I wanted to create something unique, something that is one of a kind. You can’t find sculptural candles everywhere which makes them extremely special for candle collectors. I basically learned how to make them on my own researching, and watching a lot of tutorials. It’s amazing what you can learn alone on the internet. There was a little trial and error but I knew I would be good at making candles. The wonderful thing about this craft is that you can reuse the wax if needed. I’m inspired by art, elegance, and the unusual so I try to incorporate that into the candles I choose to make. My candles are like little works of art that bring something special into peoples lives. I honestly just love peoples reactions. To me it’s the quality of customers, not quantity. It’s a privilege to be able to create something special for people.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m a passionate person and thrive on being creative. To create something with your hands is truly a gift. I’m grateful to be able to create in my mediums and hope to do so until my later years. I love my family and feel blessed to have their support especially my partner Nathan who has been there since the beginning of my artistic journey.
