We had the good fortune of connecting with Ruben Ramirez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ruben, do you have some perspective or insight you can share with us on the question of when someone should give up versus when they should keep going?
When you genuinely love something, I don”t believe that you would give up. We all go through moments of doubt, but when we discover what our true LOVE and PASSIONS are…we take it to the chin and keep moving forward. There will be times when the phone is not ringing, its up to us to discover why, regroup and go back head strong at a different angle. I find that we grow the most in those times of re-adjustments. we see what is not working. we see what we need to work on. Its up to us to humble ourselves and see where we can do better, and even better when you have a team behind you to tell you that for you. Shoutout Starpower The Elites

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
On the actor side of things, I have been pretty busy! My first Co-star role in “North of the 10” has officially streamed on BET+ and just wrapped another co-star role on a new feature film called “Primary Position” starring Kris D. Lofton (POWER) , Omar Gooding (Baby Boy) , Twista (Overnight Celebrity) , Hypno Carlito (OTF) and many more stars! It was such a blessing to be apart of such a big production as I grew up watching these guys! I even got to cast some scenes that I plugged my friends with! Shoutout to Tommy for the heads up on the and Hypno for believing in me! I am currently casted for 4 projects coming up this summer so I am excited to share with that yall soon!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Cliche definitely will have to take them to the bean, lake shore drive, navy pier but also slide to Pilsen for the food and art! We can hit a comedy show at the Laugh Factory or Red Room Comedy Club! Another spot would have to be My Buddys! Great atmosphere and Great food! Ace Hotel for nightlife or just the West Loop in general!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Big shoutout to my bro Mario Canon & Adam Brian Dada…I have many people to thank but these guys stand out. Mario brought me along with his music label as a hype man for him as he performs but got me into acting when gatekeepers kept info away from me. He had no issue with sharing contacts, his network and resources…A TRUE FRIEND! We both always belonged to the same agency from the bad ones to the great one!

Adam made my visions come to life. Having someone like him in your corner makes you feel unstoppable. He has been my Executive Producer since 2020 and we have been able to create tons of projects and opportunities. He works hard to get me what is needed and is amazing mentor. He changed my mindset in multiple avenues and I am forever thankful for that.
