Meet Russell Fadavi | Fine art painter & instructor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Russell Fadavi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Russell, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Starting my own art business was a natural extension of my life’s journey—a way to reclaim my creative voice after years of navigating censorship, displacement, and transformation. I wanted to create a space where my art could serve both as personal expression and social commentary, free from political or institutional constraints. After decades of perseverance, founding my own business became an act of empowerment—an opportunity to share my story and offer strength and healing to others through my work.
My business is rooted in the belief that art can be a powerful tool for transformation. Through visual storytelling and community engagement, I aim to inspire resilience and spark meaningful dialogue. My past collaborations with the UNHCR and my ongoing commitment to refugee awareness reflect this mission. I also use my platform to mentor aspiring artists, especially those from marginalized communities, helping them discover their voice and confidence through creative expression.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Resilience. My brand is built on the foundation of enduring hardship and transforming those experiences into meaningful, authentic work. Every piece I create is an expression of feeling and emotion, telling a story of survival, determination, and growth. That emotional depth resonates with people. My ability to adapt—across cultures, geographies, and life challenges—has given my work a global, humanistic quality that speaks to the heart.
Art was my refuge in times of chaos and later became my voice when I had none. I pursued a creative career because it is the most honest reflection of who I am. Even when life pulled me in other directions—through revolution, war, exile, or military duty—art remained the constant thread. It was never a matter of convenience, but of necessity and truth.

Day 1 – Arrival & Reconnection
Start with coffee and conversation at a cozy neighborhood café—somewhere quiet and welcoming like Café on 27, where we can reconnect and ease into the week.
In the evening, enjoy dinner at a Persian restaurant, savoring fragrant rice, saffron-infused dishes, juicy kebabs, and warm, freshly baked bread.
Day 2 – Art Immersion
Begin the day with a visit to a contemporary art museum, such as the Getty Center, to take in inspiring works and breathtaking views.
Later, spend time at my studio or a local creative hub to share our own creative expressions.
In the evening, experience the energy of L.A. nightlife with live music at a vibrant venue.
Day 3 – Nature & Reflection
Take a day trip to Malibu for some peace and renewal—walk along a quiet beach, reflect on life’s journey, and maybe sketch or journal by the ocean.
Days 4 & 5 – Las Vegas Adventure
Head to Las Vegas to explore the city’s dynamic pulse. Wander through iconic sites, sample amazing food, and catch a few popular shows for some high-energy entertainment and spectacle.
One night could be spent watching an art-house film or meaningful documentary, followed by a thoughtful conversation.
Day 6 – My City Through My Eyes
Take a personal tour of my favorite hidden gems—peaceful corners, scenic overlooks, and street art walls that have inspired my work over the years.
Stop by a local art supply store or a cozy bookshop that feels like a second home.
In the evening, cook together at home—preparing something traditional and heartfelt to share.
Day 7 – Celebration & Closure
Host an intimate gathering with close friends, fellow artists, and community members who have shaped and supported my journey.
A night filled with stories, laughter, food, and connection—a perfect close to an unforgettable week.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
To all the friends and family who stood beside me and believed in my journey—without your help and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
