Meet Ryan Batiste | Musician, Producer, Educator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Batiste and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
As a versatile artist from a musical family in New Orleans, I Raw Revolution in high school as a collective with friends who played instruments or rapped. Even as members pursued different paths, I wanted to keep the group going, evolving it into my main project and brand. My thought process involved a desire to create and perform music that blended my diverse musical talents, including my background as a drummer transitioning to piano and his interest in hip-hop, R&B, and electronic elements. Leading Raw Revolution allowed me to carve my own artistic path while staying connected to my musical roots in New Orleans.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I consider myself a versatile artist from New Orleans’. I also come from a musical family known being leaders in the music scene of Nola and beyond. My unique sound is known for blending hip-hop, R&B, and electronic elements into my contemporary sound. I transitioned from drums to piano and producing, releasing albums like “Twilight” showcasing my keyboard-based production and vocal styles. Beyond my solo work, I lead my band Raw Revolution, a project that I’ve maintained since high school, evolving it from a collective into my main artistic brand. I also founded L.O.C.A.L.S’ Fest to highlight local New Orleans talent and has a merchandise line, showcasing my entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to my community.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
You can start your day with beignets and café au lait at Café Du Monde, then immerse yourself in the history of jazz at Preservation Hall for a midday set. For lunch, savor a classic muffuletta at Central Grocery. The afternoon could be spent exploring the vibrant street music scene in the French Quarter, leading into an evening of refined Creole cuisine at a restaurant like Commander’s Palace. Finish the night with live brass band music at a spot on Frenchmen Street, soaking in the city’s infectious rhythms and flavors.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my family! My family has been my support and foundation that helped me become as successful as I am today!
