We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Fox and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ryan, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?

The best and most important decision I made was to remain independent. I have had many opportunities to join larger brands and to merge with other boutique firms like mine. However, it has always been important to me that I build an empire where I remain in control. Several times in the past I have partnered up on different ventures and things haven’t always gone well. I’ve had a vision of the direction I’d like to take The Fox Group in for a very long time. I dont believe that If I would have become affiliated with another franchise or partnered with someone it we would be where it is today.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

I am the founder & CEO of The Fox Group headquartered in Beverly Hills. We are a boutique real estate firm with branches in Bakersfield, the Bay area, Miami, Florida and pretty soon Atlanta, GA and Las Vegas, Nevada. There are a few more in the works, but we’re not speaking too much on those just yet.

What sets us apart besides being woman owned….BLACK woman owned in Beverly Hills is that I am a hands on broker. My team is everything to me. I don’t want starving agents on my roster. I want to see everyone thrive in this industry. I mentor, I train, I partner, I listen. It is also a goal of the brokerage to help our agents invest in real estate, not just sell it. Education and having a clear understanding of professionalism is what we strive for.

Our clients knowing that we have their backs is important to us. Being trustworthy, working as a unit rather than competitors is how we operate. This is how we are with outside Realtors as well. Whats for us, is for us. What is for someone else, is for them. However we can be of assistance so that everyone wins is how we plan on building a long lasting name in this ever changing real estate industry.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

Wow, there is so much we could do! First thing I would do is go eat lol. I’d say we’d start at The Farm of Beverly Hills on Beverly Drive. They have really good Huevos Rancheros. I’d then take them over to Rodeo for a day of shopping of course. We’d probably end the day at Ocean Prime, one of my go-to spots for drinks & good food after work.

Throughout the week we’d go down to Earles on Crenshaw for an amazing Vegan chili cheese dog. Head over to Leimert Park for some good vibes and shopping for herbs at Nappily Naturals then over to Soul Folks for some clothes shopping. I would also have to take them over to La Barca Restaurant over on Vermont. That is the best Mexican food in LA and one of my favorite spots to take my family.

I’d end the week doing something like a hike up the Culver City stairs or some sort of physical activity before getting a smoothie at Simply Wholesome. Then we’d wrap up their visit with drinks at The Waldorf or the Juniper Lounge at the 1 Hotel in West Hollywood.

Alright, so let’s jump right in! The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there a person, group, organization, book, etc. that you want to dedicate your shoutout to? Who else deserves a little credit and recognition in your story?

Huge shout out to my team! Candice (Sports & Entertainment), Sway (1st time homebuyers), Laura (bilingual/investment specialist), Darlynn (Commercial & film location specialist), Jenn (bilingual transaction coordinator), Kashana (first time homebuyer/investment specialist), Mike (Acquisitions manager), Shirley (Executive Assistant) and Ria (Bay Area investor/homebuyer specialist). We are going to kill it in 2023! Also, all of our amazing clients and colleagues.

Books that I feel deserve a shoutout?

Think and Grow Rich, 48 Laws of Power, The Art of War and The Alchemist are all books that changed my perspective on life. Those are all books I recommend every person read. I would actually recommend you read each one at least two to three times. I listen to audio books when I’m on a flight or driving most days. These are books that I listen to &/or read multiple times every year.

Last but definitely not least, huge shout out to God for every mountain He’s brought me over.

It’s an uphill battle building a brand from the ground up. It takes a lot to stay motivated. Everything & everyone I mentioned above assists me with persevering
