Meet Ryan Shah | Director & Editor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ryan Shah and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ryan, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I think I’ve always been a creative at heart. I started at the tender age of 14, making gaming videos just for fun. A few months later, during my brother’s wedding, I thought it would be fun to put my amateur editing skills to work and compiled a short wedding video. To my surprise, people seemed to love my version more than the actual video by the videographer hahaha. This fuelled my interest even more, and I began to think this might be my calling.
I always saw the world around me from a different perspective. I saw beyond its physicality, and was able to pick up the emotion behind everything. These emotions translated to stories, and I began to unfold these stories through my lens.
Honing my creative side gave me a sense of fulfilment. The high and the extreme sense of euphoria when completing a project is incomparable. Letting my creativity flow through my work became a sense of expression for me, and that’s what I love about it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is all about pushing boundaries and creating something entirely new. I believe that’s what sets me apart—striving to craft experiences that are fresh and unparalleled. One of my most exhilarating projects to date was capturing Post Malone’s performance in Mumbai, my hometown. It felt like a full-circle moment, flying back home to capture one of my favourite artists of all time.
However, the road to where I am today hasn’t been a walk in the park. I started experimenting with videos at 15, learning everything I could from Youtube videos. Eventually, I felt the need for a bigger canvas and made the bold move to LA at just 19. It wasn’t easy. The city’s competitive landscape was a wake-up call, pushing me to evolve and adapt rapidly. Yet, amidst the challenges, I’ve learned invaluable lessons about resilience, perseverance, and the importance of constantly honing my craft.
Through my journey, I want the world to know that success doesn’t come easy—it’s a product of endless dedication and a willingness to embrace the challenges head-on. My brand and story are a testament to the transformative power of passion and hard work, and I’m excited to continue pushing boundaries and inspiring others along the way.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The first place has to be Griffith Observatory. I love spending time in the hills, it makes you feel like you’re in a different world – at the top, you know. One of my favourite spots is Joshua Tree. I am obsessed with stargazing, and Joshua Tree is the perfect place to do that.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Credit definitely goes to my parents. They taught me how to look at life in all of its glory. My mom is my superhero, my ray of sunshine and positivity, always showing me how to tackle life’s curveballs with a smile. My father always believed in me, my biggest cheerleader. He taught me how to dream big and not let anyone stop you from what you want to do in life. They taught me the importance of family, which I will carry with me always. Without their love and support, I wouldn’t be where I am today.
