We had the good fortune of connecting with Edrianna Terrae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Edrianna, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business was , 1: what am I known for ; What does my Audience trust me with? 2. How does this type of business exist in my everyday life already ? And 3. Is this something I’ll enjoy running in the future? The thought process behind my business was that simple because as long as I knew that it something my fan base would trust me enough to buy considering it’s something that I already use or will continue to use in my everyday life , support would come on its own and as long as it was something I enjoyed doing I’d continue to promote and market it allowing my brand to grow naturally.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I previously owned a cosmetics business Called EdriBeauty but now I am a full time braider and I own a body care line. @Braidrianna is the name of my braiding page where i specialize in knotless braids , stitch braid styles, locs , and natural hair styles. BodiedByTerrae is my body care line where I provide natural body care products to Men , Women , and even children . I believe what sets me apart from others is my willingness to make people comfortable from all walks of life. I treat people like friends and family in order to provide them with the best experience possible when in my care. I am most proud of my work behind both brands because I am able to see the genuine reactions and satisfaction of the people who book with me or purchase from my brand . To get to where I am business wise was really due to God, my motivation to put in the work in and in all honesty; credibility . It is easy to start because people who support you will support , but it was hard to maintain and keep my business relevant because I had took a break for a while so trying to fight against the algorithms on social media was hard, but nothing i couldn’t handle . The lessons I have learned from owning two different kind of businesses is honestly you have to be really detailed with your rules , policies ,and boundaries. It seems like a pretty common thing to say but honestly these days people to me become very entitled and by no surprise do not read as much as you think they would. Although people are spending their money with you at the end of the day I think they forget we are still human . Most importantly I have learned that you have to also hold your self accountable and take responsibility because at the end of the day this is a business and you have to run it accordingly .
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Honestly I am an outdoor type of person .but I hardly ever actually explore the city I reside in besides my usual day to day visits. I do a lot of hikes , amusement parks , skating rinks, ATV riding , Zip-lining , escape rooms and even random road trips. I love seafood , and steakhouses! I hardly ever plan things I am very spontaneous so a lot of things come as I decide I want to do something. Those are the most fun and exciting things to check out in my opinion 🙂
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My Family is a big part of my success. My mom , Siblings, My Aunt ,Uncles , Cousins , Grandparents , everyone . I come from a very loving and supporting family . No matter what I wanted to do I knew that all I had to do was put my mind to it and they would be behind me supporting me every step of the way. Not only with love , but with genuine feedback , advice ; even being my first sale at times. They’ve even put my name in rooms I Never had to walk in or in the ears of people whom I haven’t even met yet. They’ve been my support system my entire life and have continued to be . I’m forever grateful.
