We had the good fortune of connecting with Sabina Mach and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sabina, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My business started out just as a passion. Everything I do happens because I’m thinking about the creative process, and how wonderful and fun it would be to go on this adventure. I’m never thought about the money in anything I did, that was just a bonus. I grew up on Disney movies, so interacting with animals was normal to me. What I’m most known for is interacting with wild animals. from a fox , to bears , to swans, bulls, wolves, owls and many more 🙂 I had these amazing photos on my Instagram @sweetlittlesugarplum and then Covid happened, and everyone had to wear a mask. But from my experience a lot of kids didn’t like the change, thought the masks were ugly and boring (and I thought the same thing. ) I’m a kid at heart. So I decided to create these one of a kind – fairytale masks, so I could wear, and I would bring them to playgrounds for kids and their parents so they could stay safe. All of a sudden there was a huge demand, parents were calling up saying, can you please send more, “our child is finally wearing the mask.” And then the parents themselves loved it, even the dads are having fun now. So that’s how my website and business got launched. It expanded into Fairytale WEAR, with backpacks, socks, swimsuits, calendars and much more. 🙂

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
SUGARPLUM design just got featured on the cover of L’OFFICIEL, and many other magazines. It’s been flattering for the line to go international now. There are definitely steps I’d like to take, such as placing the line in Walmart, Urban Outfitters, Pac Sun, or Hot Topic. They are truly one of a kind, unique and there’s nothing out there that’s similar in this over saturated market. And that makes me proud. How original something turned out when you don’t do it the lazy way. 🙂

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First we would get breakfast at La Monarca Bakery, my favorite place in Hollywood. Then we would go swimming with the dolphins. After lunch we would stop by Movita Juice Bar to get some amazing acai bowls and fresh juice. Mid day I would take them to the Hollywood sign horse trail ride. There’s a pet rooster that hangs out at the stables, I call him Rebbl, like my favorite drink. I’m always on the go and that’s one constant drink you will find me having. We would watch the Sunset at the very top, and go down for a short game or tennis. Tennis is always fun I have 5 yorkies that go chasing after the balls. 🙂 And of corse movie night after.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Oh yes of corse, I could never do something completely on my own. I have to be inspired by someone. All the images you will see on the items. Have been made, designed by me and a huge team of creatives were involved in making it happen. From all the animals being real, to the creative ideas of the fairytale look, to the actual making of the masks everything has been a collaborative process, of asking opinions and suggestions. 🙂 Especially my granddad who is a doctor and cardiologist went to hospitals and gave away the masks to kids and patients. 🙂
