We had the good fortune of connecting with Saint Ahmad and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Saint, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
Risk taking is about having the confidence to do or make something happen that may not be widely excepted; going against the grain. Life would be pretty boring if everyone was the same. The risk takers are the ones that keep it interesting, moving.

I would say that being an independent artist involves a lot of risk taking because you’re pretty much doing everything yourself. You’re the team. There’s no one really patting you on the back saying you’re doing a good job. You just have to believe in the music that you’re making and the rest will come. Lot’s of delay gratification like, edging… hahah

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am getting ready to release a new song called, On Go. It’s such a fucking bop. I’m rapping a little bit in French and just talking about hookup culture. The question of do I have sex with him on the first date or try to fall in love with him. I started performing in night clubs in New York. My first gig was New Years (My Birthday) with Nicky Doll. It was a lot of fun being in nightlife lots of late night’s … There were a lot of challenges trying to navigate the scene and be an artist. Trying to find events and parties to performer at. Trying to get my name out there and for people to listen to my music. I feel that I am still in the building stage still, but maybe not as close to nightlife as I was. I still enjoy going out and having a good time, watching friends DJ, erotic parties. I am just now focusing on creating good music and enjoying my life a bit more. I’ve learned that trusting your gut is very important. I am a Capricorn so I am always trying to be practical about things when in reality sometimes you just need to go with what you feel. I’m doing this to amplify the voices of other queer artists specifically, poc.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly Ima give my shout to myself… For working hard and really putting effort into my career. I don’t really have a team or any management so most of everything is done myself. I even style myself and do a lot of creative direction. I wanna direct a music video as well…
