We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Guyton and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sam, what do you attribute your success to?
Showing up. You/We might not always have the answers but if we show up and ask questions, make an effort and show the team that you are always willing to go to “bat” your odd of winning increases dramatically. I constantly try to show up in every relationship in my life whether it’s personal or business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an artist that loves to entertain, sing and travel! I truly enjoy performing. It could be for a thousand people or just a few listeners stopping by. The art of entertaining is one that I hope to contiune to develop as time goes on. It was/is not easy. It’s not easy in the sense of every day “rent” is due… it’s hard work, but working hard works. Just get it done. Learn songs, meet people, book work, and have fun! The number one lesson I have learned thus far is that anything is possible if you are willing to put forth the work needed for the assignment. Anything,

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
For my hometown, Milwaukee, my favorite spots are The Milwaukee Public Market and the Third Ward. We would eat at the St. Pauls fish market and just hang around and have NO plans. As for my second home of NYC, Los Tacos No. 1, Joes Pizza, and Prince Street pizza. And for live music in the city, you gotta go to The Groove on MacDougal.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There are so many mentorships I feel that I have received up until this very moment, but I would have to give my current Shoutout to my mentor, Jimmy. Mentorship can often times be filled with difficult challenges that you need to rely on your mentor in-order to help push through those challenges. He has always been there to shed light on a situation that is foreign to me and provides clear suggestions that only help me advance in that situation. Sometimes you have to give someone a “shot” and that is exactly what Jimmy did for me. He gave me a shot but more important he is still here should I need assistance. Forever thankful!
