Meet Sam Wilder | Singer/Songwriter

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sam Wilder and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sam, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
As a kid who loved music, I have wanted to be a singer for as long as I can remember. My grandfather and I used to bond over poetry and get lost in discussion for hours. His love of poetry and story-telling taught me the importance of having a life full of creative expression. Still today, I think of him before I write all of my songs. His passion and pure heart drive me to create meaningful music; which I hope can inspire others to look into themselves and find the beauty beneath their pain. I wouldn’t be where I am if it wasn’t for his love and support. He has made me the musician I am today.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
As a Pop/Adult Contemporary Singer, My music blends emotional deepness with modern melodies to craft a unique sound that everyone can enjoy. I am about to release my new single “Vanity,” and I am extremely proud of it and I can’t wait to send it out into the world! “Vanity” is a song about falling into grief and loss as you try to deal with the world around you. I wrote my first song “House” after I moved to Los Angeles from Atlanta. I was feeling as though I was being pulled in two different directions and was unable to let go of the insecurities I had wanted to leave behind. Taking the risk to pursue my music in a new place was daunting, yet exciting! I have made some incredible friends and am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to pursue what I love. I eat, sleep, and breath music.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
For breakfast, we would go to a small bakery in Santa Monica and get our food to go; so we could eat it while we hang out at the beach! After breakfast, I would take them to Koreatown and show them around my neck of the woods… and possibly get Boba Tea. HAHA. My Favorite place to get lunch is a restaurant called Hangari Kalguksu in Koreatown. They have the best food! At Night, 71 Above is an incredible restaurant to go to in Downtown LA. Visiting the Petersen Automotive Museum is always a super fun place to visit if you happen to love cars as much as I do. Sometimes just driving around and getting lost can lead you to your new favorite spot.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I was raised by the most loving, caring and giving woman on the planet. She is a single mother who raised three crazy children on her own and her strength surprises my everyday. As a kid, she taught me to be kind and empathetic; which to this day, are qualities I am extremely thankful to have. She has always supported my passion for music and has always been by my side. I am forever grateful to have her in my life and am counting down the days until I can fly back to Atlanta and hug her.
