We had the good fortune of connecting with Samantha Alonzo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Samantha, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking a risk is important in moving forward with your dreams, passion, career choice, or life path. As a colleague of mine, would always say, “Do something every day that scares you.” A most notable risk I took, was auditioning for the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor at the age of 17, which changed my life and helped motivate me to pursue the career that I’m currently studying for.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Although I may have done a lot of projects throughout the years, the one I am most proud of would be performing at the Queen Mary’s Dark Harbor. I was on of their main characters (Scary Mary) which I had the pleasure to be on their advertisements and billboards as the character from 2014-2019. I consider this to be one of my biggest accomplishments and what led me to work for some amazing activations for Warner Bros, Hulu and Mycotoo. Since 2020 I had slowly started to expand and do more alternative modeling with my creative team which has led to some amazing projects and opportunities I wouldn’t have gotten without the support of our followers, friends and family within the Haunt and horror community. A most recent accomplishment was being on the cover of Gothic Culture Magazine July edition photographed by Slevin Mors at his previous Elysium Studios. Now that I am getting older, I have been wanting to grow within my artistic abilities and I am currently enrolled in school to become a make up artist and an Esthetician, for my current goal at this time is to help my fellow friends and colleagues within my community and create stronger connections to improve my business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Places you’d either find me at or see me take a friend would probably be Club Bar Sinister, the Medieval Torture Museum and Museum of Death, The Wolves Bar, the Last Bookstore, Heritage Square Museum, Bearded Lady’s Mystic Museum and of course The Queen Mary. And if there is an event happening I would take them to any of the various Halloween or Horror related pop ups like Witches Brew, Midsummer Scream and Oddities Flea Market.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would have to dedicate this shout out specifically to the creative Director of Mycotoo, David Wally. Without you, I would not have been where I am today, thank you.
