We had the good fortune of connecting with Sammy OG and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sammy, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
When children grow up knowing that their worth doesn’t depend on perfection — that mistakes are part of learning and that their voices matter — they usually become confident, empathetic, and resilient adults.

Other people might name different things (like setting boundaries, teaching responsibility, or ensuring education), but all of those grow out of the same root: the parent’s consistent care and emotional presence.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art blends classical saxophone with personal storytelling. I love exploring emotion through sound and finding freedom within structure. The journey hasn’t been easy — studying abroad and facing setbacks taught me resilience and authenticity. What sets me apart is my openness to experiment and my belief that music should connect people beyond words.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend visited, I’d start with a day in downtown Boston — walking along the Charles River, then grabbing coffee near Harvard Square. We’d catch a concert at Longy or the BSO, and end the night with late-night ramen in Cambridge. Midweek, I’d take them to explore art museums and little jazz bars, then spend a quiet afternoon by the ocean in Rockport. On the weekend, we’d head to Newbury Street for vintage shops, maybe busk a bit, and finish with ice cream by the river — just music, laughter, and good company.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a shoutout to the mentors and friends who believed in me when I was still finding my own voice. Their guidance and encouragement shaped not only my music but also how I see the world. Any success I have is really a reflection of their support and kindness.
