We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Le and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
Mr. Raynard Ledford serves as the Co-Founder, Chief Operation Officer and President of Development who possesses premier experience in the hospitality industry for over 33 years. He was trained by the top and prestigious culinary program at the Culinary Institute of America. Notably, Mr. Ledford was the former Chief Executive Officer, Owner and Operator of the renowned Prime Restaurants Group that was responsible for the success of many large afranchises. As such, his leadership in development and operation ensures both rapid buildout and high-quality operation training.

Dr. Jennifer Le serves as the Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer and President with the vision and passion for sweets that are of high-quality, plant-based and sustainable. She leverages her healthcare and research background to elevate the quality of sweets, making it delicious and healthier targeting consumers of all ages who are health-conscious or have significant food allergies or certain food-related diseases.

Together by harmonizing our distinct and diverse backgrounds, Lêberry was conceived as an innovative and one-of-a-kind concept that offers plant-based donuts and baked desserts in one shop. Currently, there is an absence of a plant-based franchise in USA and globally. Even among the current franchises, there is none that combines donut and bakery. We both conceived our business concept to build a distinctive brand and address this increasing market demand for plant-based foods for those who are health-conscious, have food intolerance and allergy, and desire to advocate for a green environment.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our mission is to provide “sustainable sweets” to mindful, healthy living that is delectable and to cultivate loyal, brand-specific consumer segments with an organic plant-based twist to satisfy the taste buds of our consumers of all ages and diverse cultures, including those with food intolerance and allergies that comprise 20% of current population in the USA.

Capitalizing on our franchise and healthcare backgrounds, we have developed an efficient operation that augments profit by minimizing labor and combining two highly lucrative industries, bakery and donut, with global market shares of $200 billion and $40 billion USD, respectively. The successful launch of our first shop positions us for fast buildout for future COVID-resilient stores with online ordering and fast-food pickup and delivery capabilities. Furthermore, we anticipate brand expansion through retail stores and wholesale manufacturing of plant-based food, which in itself is a sustainable concept as it preserves our natural resources. We are currently at our next stage of development: accepting investors with initial capital investment ranging from $250,000 to $750,000 USD per location.

Our plan is to expand Lêberry’s concept and service to other locations throughout the USA. With our focus to deliver 100% plant-based vegan and gluten-free sweets, we have attracted customers from the health-conscious communities to expand business. Furthermore, customers with certain food allergies (i.e., eggs or diary) and those with certain food-related diseases (i.e., celiac disease and gluten hypersensitivity) will greatly benefit from our offering. We market customers of all ages, from cutely decorated donuts and cupcakes attractive to children to traditional croissants, cakes and pies that adults love. In addition to the wide age spectrum, we target customers of all races, ethnicities and gender through our diverse management team. Particularly in our first location in Pasadena, we have attracted Asian Americans (Vietnamese, Chinese, Taiwanese, & Indians), African Americans, Caucasians, and Hispanics. This racial- and ethnic diversity is important to us to maximize the success of business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The city of Pasadena, within the Los Angeles County, is our favorite spot. We selected this city for our bakery for its history (specifically the Tournament of Roses Parade and Playhouse District), friendly people and diverse cultures. Pasadena is a culturally-diverse location with over 130,000 residents and demands are be high for donuts and baked good because so many people lack time to fry donuts and bake pastries/cupcakes at home. The Los Angeles County has more than 9.8 M people. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The person we become today all stems from the influences of our family and the values we were instilled since childhood. Ray and I prioritize family first—always and forever. From our parents who taught us perseverance and strong work ethnics within our rough neighborhood upbringing, to the lessons learned from our own children that encompass compassion and tolerance, we are forever indebted to our family for making us better each day.
