We had the good fortune of connecting with Samuel Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Samuel, how do you think about risk?
Taking risk in my opinion is one of the greatest achievements anyone can accomplish. I believe taking risk is really devoting yourself to understand and work within god’s glory and purpose. People often go through life trying to understand what their true gifts are for their own individual success – rather than understanding that focusing on your gift is, and will be your social contribution to society through Gods plan.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe that my style of art is defined in 2 words futuristic and innovative. Art in my definition is always pushing the envelope and introducing your consumer/audience to something new. What sets me apart from others is that displaying Gods plan does not have a price tag on it – meaning I’m not creating art for a paycheck. I’m creating it to see the emotional reaction from the consumer. Spending 18+ years (11 corporate design and 7 entrepreneur)., has provided clarity on how to navigate and function within this industry from concept to completion. Overcoming this is also two words (Trial and Error). The lessons I’ve learned is that experience is the secret ingredient to prospering in the fashion industry. Without experience, business men, designers, etc. will not be able to achieve their initial goals. My words about my story, is that I never gave up entirely, and it was the support system of my Lord and family that kept me going. If you believe in something, see it through!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Some of the most exciting places to me are in both NorCal and SoCal. The different cultures that reside such as Koreatown, Little Ethiopia, to a more downtown city environment such as SF Golden Gate Bridge – etc. are highlights on how much culture CA has to offer.
Monday – Bev Hills/Sunset
Tuesday – BelAir/Wilshire
Wednesday – Venice Beach
Thursday – San Diego
Friday/Sat – San Francisco/NorthBeach/Golden Gate bridge/Lake Merritt
Sunday – Leaving California
Coming to California for a week allows a total scope of what it has to offer. Combining a (2) destination trip would impact a total experience
