We had the good fortune of connecting with Sannia Shahid and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sannia, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson that my business / career has taught me is that if you work hard, the hard work will pay off. It is not about knowing it all, it is about learning new things everyday. Working on not only making your business better but making yourself a better person with it. If all of these things align you will get the outcome you are looking for. Also, it is not about perfection, it is about passion.

Please tell us more about your business. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today business-wise. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Nothing is easy in life. You have to do the best you can everyday and work hard for it. That is exactly what I have done, throughout all the challenges I did the best I can and believed in myself. Through these difficult times of COVID as physically events shut down, I had no idea what I would do but I knew I was not going to give up. We pivoted our business model from physical event to a virtual event which I am extremely proud and excited about. It is important to keep evolving throughout time and not get too comfortable; You never know what life is going to throw your way. LA Men’s Market started from idea where the showrooms in DTLA came together and invited buyers to check out their brands. The brands had these beautiful showrooms but no traffic during markets. In the past 8 years LA Men’s Market has evolved into one on the top shows with the best in class brands and top retailers joining us from all over. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would not be here without my mother. She has supported and believed in me from the beginning. I started my journey as an intern. Everyday she would tell me through my internship, she knew I would be hired on afterwards even though there were no job openings in the company at the time. Sure enough, she was right, I got the job. Every step of the way, I have gone to her for advise, when I had doubts or just wanted to complain, my highs and low, my successes and failures. Throughout she has been my support system, which keeps me going. Not only she comes to every show but helps the team setup beforehand. I am lucky to have her and would not be able to come this far without her in my corner.
