We had the good fortune of connecting with Sara Hill and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sara, what is the most important factor behind your success?

I personally believe that the success I’ve found in my business thus far, has largely in part come from my ability to show up authentically as myself. In today’s society, where social media & the portrayal of perfection fills our feeds, to be different and stand out, one must do exactly that- stand out by showcasing how you’re different! No one is you and that is your super power! When people begin a business, the pressure to ‘know what you’re doing and have it all together’ runs high. But I advise every single person I work with how disadvantageous that is. At our core, we want to feel like we can connect and relate to people and if there is ONE thing that is NOT relatable- it’s perfection. No one is perfect. So the more you can vulnerably share where you are and where you want to go as opposed to portraying a perfect idea of things ALWAYS running smoothly and already being at the top- the MORE success you will have.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

As a Kangen Water Distributor, I help people get the highest quality water IN their homes whilst simultaneously getting toxic chemicals and single-use plastics OUT of their homes by owning this one device. A Kangen Water machine is a Japanese medical device that boasts a variety of every day uses and is, what I believe, the most impactful and incredible in-home appliance you can own- especially for those individuals interested in zero waste/ toxic free living, environmental sustainability and all around holistic health.

Greater than the product, what my business additionally provides is a vehicle for big dreamers to escape the rat race, hustle culture and replace climbing the corporate ladder with a high ticket health and sustainability business. I’ve always had lofty dreams and desires to experience various people, places and cultures in the world, and when I graduated college the only road to success that I was informed about was working a 9-5- which loosely translated to me to being used as a resource for helping someone else build THEIR dreams instead of my own. While everyone else was starting their careers, I bought a one way ticket to Australia and was determined to find an alternative, more freedom-filled way to live. I knew I was meant for more and I knew that there had to be another way. It was there, that I witnessed first hand that there were people in this world who work to LIVE and not only live to WORK, like I feel we are taught here in America. From that first taste of freedom at 21, I was determined to only pursue jobs and opportunities that improved my quality of life instead of the quantity of promotions or pay rises in my bank account.

What I would I would love for people to know about this line of work, is that the this company I work for truly believes and promotes this idea of ’TRUE health’. When we think of health, we tend to just think of the foods we put in our body and getting enough exercise. True Health is being cognizant of the health of your body, the health of your finances, the health of your mind,  your quality of life, helping others live better and so much more. I genuinely love what I do and I love to connect with others who care about all of these things too.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

If my best friend was coming to town for a week, I would split our time between Charlotte, Asheville and Charleston. The best part about living in Charlotte, NC, is that I am a quick few hours from the mountains as well as being a quick few hours from the beach. Our time would definitely be split going on hikes and hitting breweries in Asheville and then soaking up some sun and surf in Charleston. As for our time in Charlotte, I would take her to my favorite quiet spot to relax and recenter, the Anne Close Springs Greenway, to go for a nature walk and end with a picnic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

There is no shortage of people, podcasts, books, and other various helpful modalities that have positively contributed to the love, growth and success of my journey, but if I had to give an extra sprinkle of love and appreciation to one person in particular, it would be my dear South African friend, Nikola Botha. Although there is an ocean between us, her friendship and ever present encouragement in this line of work has been the candlelight that has comforted me since we both began this business 2.5 years ago.
