Meet Sarah Gorski | Accessories Designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Gorski and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started my business making women’s accessories when I was a relatively inexperienced designer. I had the passion and interest in spades, and some loosely related creative industry experience ranging from business to marketing. Otherwise I was an absolute beginner when it came to actually making jewelry and accessories. Recently married, I chose bridal accessories because I found them to be beautiful, and I liked the idea of helping brides achieve the perfect, personalized finishing touches they desired on their wedding day.
I can only describe my thought process behind quitting my day job and beginning my first bridal accessory collection as lunacy. Maybe it was beginner’s luck? I think not fully grasping the scope of the challenge I was taking on was a huge component of my success. I dove in blindly, trusting that with my personal taste and style combined with the aforementioned business experience would lead to my success. I was grateful for every single customer in those first few months, and I let every small win feel like a massive win.
Starting my own business rather than joining another designer’s studio seemed like a no-brainer to me. I really wanted to build my own thing. I think that’s an inherent goal of a lot of people living and working in Los Angeles. It’s a city full of dreamers and hustlers, everyone wanting to tell their own story in their own words.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make handmade bridal accessories. Making custom accessories helps brides cut through the noise of what they should be wearing and instead focuses on what a brides wants to wear on her wedding day. I create collections of my own designs featuring silk flowers, rhinestones, glass beaded leaves, clay flowers, and pearls. These collections can be purchased as designed, or I can collaborate with brides to create one-of-a-kind pieces.
When I was planning my own wedding, I felt like there weren’t enough bespoke wedding accessories available online, so every day I work to fix that.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The perfect week in Los Angeles is just enough time for a trip to the beach, a trip to Idyllwild and a trip to Joshua Tree.
On day one, I’d recommend soaking up the Pacific Ocean at the Santa Monica Pier, a stroll down Abbot Kinney for some shopping and fine dining, and a sunset ride on bike path at Venice Beach. For dinner and cocktails, I wouldn’t miss The Rose.
On day two, a visit to the Getty with a tram ride up the chill and where even the concessions are on point. The cheese plate at the Cafe is surprisingly good.
On of my favorite dates has been hiking through the Santa Anita Canyon. A portion of the hike is through a neighborhood that looks like a cluster of hobbit houses. It’s a gorgeous hike with a variety of views depending on the route you take.
The best part about living in Los Angeles is the ability to see so much of Southern California with a quick roadtrip. Idyllwild is charming and family friendly, and dinner at Ferro is delicious. I recommend enjoying meals and drinks on the back patio.
We’re also lucky to be so close to Joshua Tree. You can start your trip by driving in the north entrance of the park in the Mojave Desert, and leave through the south entrance in the Colorado desert. Both deserts are beautiful and distinct, and the transit through the park between each desert is breathtaking.
Back in Los Angeles, I’m a huge fan of downtown and the east side. Date nights usually find my husband and me in Highland Park at Cafe Birdie and the nearby cocktail lounge Gold Line. Downtown, we love the hidden alleyway at Far Bar and the patio at Wurstkuche.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d love to give a shout out to Julie Hendricks, my middle school art teacher. Teachers have so much influence in our lives, such a ripple effect of positivity over the years. Ms. Hendricks was an excellent teacher and was deeply encouraging, and I can credit her with granting me with the first seeds of confidence that led me to start this business at all.
