We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Ito and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what do you attribute your success to?
Perseverance / be gratitude
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started dancing when I was a 7 years old when my mother took me to a dance studio. I was fell in love with dance.haha I from Japan, I grew up in the countryside. ( Ishikawa, Kanazawa city).
I am the eldest of three sisters, and my father was an alcoholic, so it was so scary for me to stay at home when I was young. i was in a depression.
But I had a dream of going all over the world with dance. it was irreplaceable for my life. Dance and Dream has always saved me.
So After graduating from junior high school, I worked part-time job, saved up money, and I moved to LA!
but It was really difficult for me to get a visa to work as a dancer in US because I didn’t have much background and experience in Japan. My lawyer told me many times that it was impossible. But I had 100% faith in my potential. Haha
Due to the coronavirus, which the world was not expecting, the visa process did not go as planned.
I started preparing for my visa process in 2022, which was later than planned…and I finally got it in November 2023!!!!
I can’t thank my family enough.
I am also grateful to my friends from my hometown who always support me.
I will continue to dance and pursue my dreams!!
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love natural places, so i want to take you waterfalls, mountains, and the ocean. I want you to feel the natural atmosphere of Los Angeles, which is different from your hometown in Japan.
and some coffee shop!!! I LOVE COFFEE haha
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My family and friends from hometown
