Meet Sarah Kennedy | Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Kennedy and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, how do you think about risk?
Risk-taking is one of the most important aspects of my life. The most fulfilling moments of my life all started with a deliberate decision to take a chance. Growing up, I was terrified to chase experiences that fell outside of my comfort zone. I was a shy child, and my parents regularly teased me because I’d say things like, “I want to, but I’m scared.” Sustained curiosity allowed me to discover that even though I was afraid of judgement or failure, moving forward in spite of my fear would help me create the life I want to live. This is the mentality that has driven me to action, rather than holding back, hoping I can make something happen. Singing and songwriting have been my greatest passion for as long as I can remember. In my life I’ve spent months traveling the world alone, I moved to Los Angeles without knowing a soul in the city, I continuously share my passion with the world regardless of any criticism I receive. I’ve worked hard to earn the confidence and security I have in myself and my capabilities. This all is possible with courage and taking risks even in the face of fear.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The message I’m sharing with the world through my art is confidence, determination, and empowerment. I keep these three elements in my mind any time I’m singing or writing a new song. I spent most of my formative years with a single parent, so I’ve seen the struggle of doing something on your own up close and personal. Growing up watching someone use their own power to build a life, career, and family has engrained hard work and determination in my mind. When people listen to my music I hope they feel empowered and completely full of themselves because at the end of the day you’re all you’ve got.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of my favorite spots in LA are Mulholland drive, Point Mugu beach, and my favorite place to grab a coffee is Highly Likely Cafe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shout out to other young artists like me who have to build their success from absolutely nothing.
