We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Rosenkrantz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sarah, have you ever found yourself in a spot where you had to decide whether to give up or keep going? How did you make the choice?
As an artist, let alone as a human, this question feels like the essence of humanity, akin to “to be or not to be?” From my perspective, giving up equates to giving up on life, and without life, there’s no art. Instead of surrendering, why not reframe the situation, goal, or dream to become whatever it aspires to be? You are the guide, the catalyst for what you manifest in the world. Your determination to actualize your desires only strengthens and becomes clearer if you continue to listen to that inner voice. I recently released a new single called “Don’t Give Up,” which embodies this message. Keep moving forward and see what else unfolds along the way. You never know what’s just around the corner.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Fawn in the Garden is my indie artist, performer, and singer/songwriter alias.

Fawn in the Garden creates empowering pop, synth, and 80s dance music that encourages everyone to come together and celebrate their talents and passions.

I was born and mostly raised on the Connecticut coast, where I grew up watching musicals on stage and VHS tapes. At a young age, I started taking dance lessons from an 80-year-old former Rockette, as well as piano and guitar lessons, while also performing at a local theatre. Later, I attended performing arts schools in Connecticut and California, where I studied music, dance, and acting.

My creative journey in music, art, and dance has taken me around the world—to Europe, Brazil, India, and the Middle East—expanding my experiences and perspectives.

Fawn in the Garden’s music blends pop, synth, and 80s dance, featuring soaring vocals reminiscent of the 80s New Wave era and upbeat dance rhythms that will get you on your feet! My lyrics are crafted to inspire self-love and confidence in listeners, encouraging them to strive for greatness in all aspects of their lives, both personally and professionally. I aim for my music to be a medium through which people can discover their own sense of freedom and power, and the courage to express themselves boundlessly.

I recently released a new single, “Don’t Give Up,” available on all streaming platforms. This song is about persevering even when hope seems lost, reminding listeners to be grateful for how far they’ve come and how far they’re willing to go. It’s a reminder that they are magic.

Throughout my journey, I’ve learned many lessons, all of which find their way into my art. I will continue to write songs and share my art with the world, inspiring everyone to play, learn, be silly, persevere, and spread love!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love to go wherever the sun is shining, and you can often find me hanging out on the east side of LA. I enjoy visiting museums, art galleries, farmers markets, checking out live music, and exploring new areas. Some of my favorite spots include Silver Lake, Echo Park, and DTLA. I don’t usually make itineraries unless it’s for work. I appreciate the freedom to choose based on how I’m feeling, especially when I don’t have appointments. Being spontaneous truly inspires me and adds more to my creative work. So, when friends visit, there will be plenty of surprises in store!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are countless individuals, both living and deceased, some whom I’ve never met but who have profoundly impacted and given significance to my life’s narrative. They have entered my life at precisely the right moments, assisting me in assessing and progressing in life. My mother has always been a shining beacon in my corner. Observing her raise my brother and me, establish her own business, care for her mother, and hold our family together has exemplified to me what empowerment and perseverance entail. I attribute my ongoing success to her. We are each other’s greatest supporters.
