We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
The quality of my work life balance depends on the stage of life I am currently in. Sometimes I have this wave of inspiration, energy, and passion, and in these moments, I ride the waves. Sometimes my energy is lower. I am really attuned to myself and adjust my energy in ways that feel most authentic. Overall, my family is my priority. I am grateful that I have a partner that pitches in more, when I am in a season of hyper focus on work. I think the way I think about the balance is just being self reflective, and knowing how I am feeling at the moment, and being brave enough to shift focus when I need to. Also, the book The Lazy Genius Way helped me streamline so much in my life, like morning routines, and meal time so I can be smarter about my energy.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am so proud of my blog, thescottystyle.com. As a mommy blogger, it was important to me to tell my story in the most authentic way. I wanted my community to feel less alone and more empowered each time they read my content. I help parents find the magic amidst the mess of parenting. And parents trust me, because I show you the good and the bad. The magic and the mess. I have been able to build such an empowering community by being my most authentic self, and inspiring other moms to do the same.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop whenever my friends visit is Jenis Ice Cream. Though Jenis is not native to Los Angeles, it is by far the best ice cream in LA. So, even at 11am (when they open), it is a good idea to eat ice cream for breakfast. I love Bru coffee in Los Feliz. Order a lavender latte and any pastry. I’ve tried them all. They’re all amazing.
For our beach day(s), let’s go to my favorite beach in all the land Lechuza Beach in Malibu. This beach is a hidden gem, and nobody really knows about it, so nobody’s there. Although now I just told all of you about it. Ahhhhhh.
For a nice dinner, we will go to Gracias Madre, and sit outside on the patio. This vegan Mexican place is my fave, and add the pretty string lights and top notch service, yes please.
On a more casual night, let’s head back to Los Feliz and eat at Tacos Tu Madre. They have about 8 vegan tacos, and for this vegetarian who leans vegan, it is the place to be. And don’t be surprised if you run into a celebrity in line there. These tacos are amazing!
We’ve been eating a ton on this trip, so let’s hike to the Griffith Observatory. The views of. LA are magical, and the hike, invigorating.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would not be where I am were it not for my huge village of supporters. From my blogger friends, to my family, my husband and my kids. I have an amazing community of people who pour into me daily.
