Meet Sasha Perelman: Experience Creator, Thought-Leader, Author, Poet + Storyteller

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sasha Perelman and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sasha, what inspires you?
As a creative and entrepreneur I find inspiration comes in many forms. My biggest source of inspiration is my family. My parents fled from the former USSR in pursuit of a better life. Throughout their lives they faced a lot of adversity and anti-semitism as Jewish people. Opportunities to succeed and live a peaceful life was bleak. Their resilience and tenacity to create a better life for their children motivated them to risk losing everything in hopes of achieving that. As the first one in my family born in the US, I’m often reminded of their courage to push beyond uncertainty and hardships – knowing that on the other side of darkness is light. It drives me to move forward in the toughest moments. It reminds me to be grateful for my freedoms and appreciate the beauty of life. As a storyteller and experience creator, I am compelled to share about their experiences in the USSR and their immigration to the US. I’m currently working on a novel that I anticipate will one day turn into a film. I truly believe their story is not only timely but an opportunity to create a legacy for my family. It’s imperative for me to paint the picture of perseverance and determination through my words and my work in the world. I very much believe that how I show up in the world and the work I do is to serve others for the greater good.

What should our readers know about your business?
I am the Chief Revolutionary at my experiential agency, Revolver. We’re a multi-faceted events and design company, creating experiences for global brands. I started the agency five years ago while I was working full-time in the corporate events space. It was a side hustle that I was too scared to pursue as a career until a very meaningful conversation with a family member who inspired me to take the leap. Five years later, I couldn’t be more proud of the company I’ve built from scratch and the person I’ve evolved into as a result of that. Our work spans many verticals, including industries that have been heavily stigmatized for entirely too long; i.e. cannabis, psychedelics, sexual wellness and mental well-being. We are working toward revolutionizing these topics – building the intersection of education, experiential and entertainment. Building a business is NOT easy but it’s awesome! I’ve learned more in five years than I have through collectively throughout my life. I’m constantly learning, growing and being challenged. My family and my peers inspire me endlessly. I’ve built an army of support that encourages to keep going even in the toughest moments. My biggest lesson to date, has come as a result of the pandemic. So much of my identity has been rooted in building this business, which is both awesome and daunting. I was constantly on the hustle, burying myself in my work only to realize that I lost my sense of self. This time has allowed me to take a much need pause, reevaluate and reassess my work in the world. To be reminded that outside of Revolver I am also someone who loves to write, cook, entertain and most importantly, play. Yes, it’s important to hustle and it’s also important to celebrate and savor the present. Work / life balance is imperative to sustainability of a happy and healthy life.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d spend a few days roaming around the coast – Kayaking in Marina, Biking through Playa, Manhattan Beach, etc. Driving down the PCH from Santa Monica to Malibu. An afternoon picnic at El Matador Beach. Definitely a day trip to Santa Barbara to hit up my favorite wine tasting rooms in the Funk Zone and some amazing pizza at Lucky Penny. Dinner at one of the many amazing restaurants. End the trip with a weekend in the dessert – Palm Springs + Joshua Tree. Glamping under the stars while reflecting on vastness of the world!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’m dedicating this shoutout to all the extraordinary women in my life, including my mama, my sister, my aunts, cousins, friends, colleagues and peers. I’ve been very fortunate to be surrounded by ambitious, smart, dedicated and charismatic women who have paved the way for me. They’ve taught me to be agile, self-reliant, strong and kind. They have helped me shape my narrative as a bold, audacious human dedicated to doing the same for others. The lens through which they show up in the world is utterly selfless and that inspires me endlessly.
