We had the good fortune of connecting with Savannah Schultz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Savannah, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Good Girl Silver started out as a fever dream, almost literally. I had some thoughts about starting my own business while I was cross country trucking for a large corporation. I was longing to do something that would take me home and live on my own schedule. Just a few months before covid happened I started to learn how to make jewelry. Shortly after the new year we went into lockdown, I was no longer trucking and much like others I had a lot of time on my hands. I dove head first into starting my jewelry business and haven’t looked back since.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make what some people know as ya’llternative jewelry. It’s a little bit of country, a little bit of rock & roll and lot of black. I like to use a lot of rare and unique stones like rosarita, fossilized palm root and vintage pool balls. I’ve built my business to be more than just metalsmithing. I have a small studio in Columbus that works as both my shop space as well as my “brick and mortar”. I’ve some how managed to pack 15 other small business into what we call the Good Girl HQ or just HQ for short. We have private shopping and public events throughout the year. Coming from someone who has lived their life as the new girl, that community is so important, you can’t do everything on your own. The new year is here and I already have so many plans. I can’t go into too much detail just yet, but it’s gonna be one helluva year.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Just picked the bestie up from the airport, our first stop is breakfast and we are going to The Lox Bagel Shop for some killer brekkie sandwiches. We both love to shop, we are more the hunters than the big box shopper so we are definitely finding a local market. We love German Village Makers Market and Franklinton Fridays at 400 Square. Dinner is at The Pearl, they have the best oysters in town. Now the question is are we dancing the night away at the Go-Go or are we keeping it classy over some cocktails at Antiques on High. We are here for a good time, not a long time, it’s anyone’s guess at this point.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Wow, this is hard, there are so many people out there that have supported me over the past 2 years. I’ll start the closest to home my number one fan and partner – he knows who he is. My two best gal pals and the small team of misfits I have behind the scenes. I truly could not have done this without all of my customer. Every time they liked, shared and purchased any of my jewelry, it has fueled me. Fueled me to keep going, learning and trying new things. Thank you all so much!
