Meet Scott Fidgett | Entrepreneur

We had the good fortune of connecting with Scott Fidgett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Scott, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Growing up with no financial safety net and little formal education, I quickly learned the value of resilience and resourcefulness. I saw owning a business as the ultimate form of self-reliance—a way to create opportunities not only for myself but for others. I wanted to break the cycle of scarcity and prove that with determination and hard work, it’s possible to build something from nothing.
Initially, the idea was survival. I needed to create a life where I wasn’t dependent on anyone else. But as I gained experience, my focus shifted to building something meaningful that could outlast me. I thought about solving problems, adding value, and doing things that aligned with my values and passions. Knowing firsthand what it’s like to struggle, I wanted to create businesses that not only succeeded but also inspired others to believe they could achieve their dreams, no matter their starting point.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My career has been anything but conventional, and I think that’s part of what sets me apart. I didn’t come from wealth, privilege, or even much formal education. I started with nothing but a willingness to work hard and learn as I went. The journey wasn’t easy—it was filled with failures, doubts, and moments where giving up would have been the easier choice.
What truly sets me apart is my persistence and adaptability. I’ve built multiple successful businesses, starting with my career as a professional stuntman, which taught me discipline, focus, and the importance of preparation. From there, I reinvested my earnings into real estate and eventually launched an electronics company that made millions and sold products in major UK retailers like Harrods, Maplin, and Red5. Today, I focus on branding and marketing through my company, IWMD (Inch Wide Mile Deep), where I help others grow and scale their brands.
What I’m most proud of is the impact I’ve had—not just through my businesses but in showing others that their circumstances don’t define their potential. I’ve seen people inspired by my journey to take risks and chase their dreams, and that’s incredibly fulfilling.
Getting to where I am today wasn’t easy. There were countless obstacles—financial setbacks, personal struggles, and self-doubt—but I learned to see challenges as opportunities for growth. I overcame them by focusing on solutions rather than problems, surrounding myself with supportive and driven people, and staying grounded in my “why.”
Some of the key lessons I’ve learned along the way include:
Stay humble: Success can come and go, but humility keeps you adaptable and grounded.
Invest in yourself and others: Knowledge and relationships are invaluable assets.
Take action: Waiting for the perfect moment or plan often leads to missed opportunities.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is that it’s built on authenticity, resilience, and a desire to help others succeed. I’m proof that you don’t need the perfect start to achieve extraordinary things—you just need to be willing to do the work, embrace failure, and keep moving forward. My businesses reflect that ethos, and my goal is to inspire as many people as I can to take control of their own journeys.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are a few key people without whom I might not be where I am today, and they absolutely deserve a massive shoutout.
First, my very first school teacher—who went above and beyond what most teachers would ever dare to do. At a point in my life when I was heading down the wrong path with the wrong people, he physically locked me in a classroom, shook me, and said, “Wake the f**k up, you are destined for greater things.” I remember telling him, “You’ll be fired for this,” and his response—smiling and confident—was, “It will be worth it if the message sinks into you.” That moment stayed with me, and it was a catalyst for so much of the grit and focus I developed later on.
My mum also deserves enormous credit. From day one, she’s believed in me and supported me unconditionally. Her faith in my potential never wavered, even when things looked uncertain. Knowing she was always in my corner gave me the strength to keep pushing forward, no matter how tough things got.
My business partner, Sam, has been a consistent force in my life, pushing me to be better and to reach higher. From a very young age, he became something of a role model to me, showing me what discipline and ambition can achieve. His influence challenged me to tap into parts of myself I didn’t even know existed, and I’m forever grateful for his impact on my journey.
Lastly, and most importantly, my wife—she is my rock, my balance, and my biggest supporter. She embodies all the qualities I lack and has been my unwavering partner through every triumph and every challenge. Where others doubted me, she believed in me. Her support, love, and encouragement have been constants in my life, even when the odds were against us. She stands by me every step of the way, filling the gaps in my character with her strength, wisdom, and grace. Without her, this journey would not have been as fulfilling or even possible. She truly completes me, and I am endlessly grateful for her presence in my life.
No success story is ever truly individual. It’s built on the shoulders of people who believe in you, challenge you, and hold you accountable—and I’ve been incredibly lucky to have these people in my life.
