We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Stanley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sean, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
For me it’s a very simple answer, I have a passion for capturing moments with my camera. There’s an attraction to being able to capture a moment in time and then being able to have something tangible to hang on my wall.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In the beginning of my photography I started off as primarily a surf photographer. That was my soul passion at the time since being a surfer too, I enjoyed capturing moments of surfing and the energy that the ocean produced. Aside from being published on Surfline and Stab magazine, in October 2021 I had some photos published in Kai Lenny’s book ‘Big Wave Surfer’ which I was pretty proud about. Jumping forward a few years my photography has branched out. I’ve been blessed to shoot pro surfers, athletes, musicians and artists that has boosted my career as a photographer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Alright, the first stop we would go is the restaurant called The Old Place on Mulholland hwy. My friend Morgan makes the best breakfast burrito known to man! After that we would check some surf spots in Malibu and maybe go for a surf at Zuma beach. After surfing for a bit I would have to take my friend to The Apple Pan in West La for one of their famous burgers. After we digest for a bit we would be headed to Dodger Stadium to catch a ballgame. Lastly to close out the night I would take him to Tito’s Tacos for some grub and call it a night!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
So there’s two very important people that are the reason why I get to pick up a camera and actually know what I am doing. 1. Steven Lippman took me in under his wing and showed me the basics of photography and what it takes to be successful in this industry. 2. Ricky Lesser helped refined my photography skills and pushed me to step outside of the box and really believe in my potential as a photographer. I love those two dearly and would definitely not be where I am if it weren’t for their expertise.
