Meet Sean Williams | Founder/CEO/Author/Philanthropist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sean Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sean, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Dad Gang was created to not only change the narrative of black fatherhood and dispel the negative stereotypes about them but also to support and provide all fathers on a global scale with resources that can help them be better fathers.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a global advocate for black and brown fathers. In 2016, after receiving a stranger’s faint praise for being an active black dad, I started an organization called The Dad Gang to change the narrative and tackle the misconception that black fathers were MIA or largely inactive in their children’s life. The Dad Gang, quickly grew into a global movement and a well known brand which lead me to forming a non-profit called Random Acts of Dadness Inc. where I serve as the founder and executive director. I am also the author of a children’s book called Girl Dad. As you can see, over the past 7 years my mission and main focus has been centered around uplifting and supporting fathers in any way that I can. Trying to change the way the world views black fatherhood has not been an easy task but my passion for fatherhood, tenacity for building community would not allow me to quick and has ultimately elevated me to heights that I never would’ve imagined I can reach. Through The Dad Gang, I’ve managed to secure long term partnerships with some of the top consumer brands like Dove and Walmart, I’ve been interviewed by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Steve Harvey and Tyler Perry, and have been featured in publications like the Washington Posts, Parents Magazine and Mens Health Magazine. All because I stayed true and constant to my message, my purpose and my mission. With my ambitions always set high and with the help of an incredible team there’s no stopping or no telling what we will accomplish in the near and distant future.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’d start by taking a morning hike in Topenga Canyon…the view from there is mind blowing. Catch a bite a Hotel Cara or Ka’teen for dinner then head to Mama Shelter on Sunday for some vibes with good people and good music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My 3 amazing kids Davynn 17, Cameron 7 and Ethan 5 are the reason that I am the man I am today. Being their father lead me to my purpose, my mission and ultimately to my success.
