We had the good fortune of connecting with Seimone Loupé and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Seimone, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process on starting my business journey began with the idea of creating a legacy for my family and of course financial freedom. Once I received my graduate degree in business management, I decided to bet on myself and dive in. I had always dreamed of working for myself and creating my own schedule.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Eclectic Totes are unique, in style and are handmade in different regions from around the world. The artisans use natural fibers from the earth which is good for the environment and makes them eco-friendly. I hand select each item and have the totes shipped directly from the artisans. We work hand in hand and expect to have longstanding relationships. Our team includes Los Angeles-based top artists, seamstresses, and designers and we are currently working on our 2022 Eclectic Totes Winter Collection. The greatest obstacles for an online business are finding ways to drive traffic to your website, marketing, posting ads, and time management. It is imperative to find time to manage multiple social media platforms with content on a weekly basis. Some entrepreneurs try to run their business alone, but the truth is it takes a team to operate successfully.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love Leimert Park because of the culture and to patron small black businesses. The eateries include Earl’s on Crenshaw and Post and Beam. We would then head to Malibu and get some cocktails and appetizers at Moonshadows to enjoy the scenery and vibes. For the night life I would go to the rooftop lounge at the W or High Rooftop in Santa Monica. I also enjoy going to the SkyBar for the night life. Los Angeles has several places, but I also enjoy Long Beach and heading up to the Terrenea Resort in PV for beautiful beach views and romantic vibes.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I must shout out my best friend, boyfriend and over all special man in my life Arthur Robinson. Arthur’s never ending support, faith, and encouragement has allowed me to stay grounded and motivates me to keep going strong. From early morning rising to make sure my pop up shops are successful and ensuring my inventory/website is current, this man never fails me and I am forever grateful. I also would like to shoutout son Kimmani for his support and assistance with my business! Kimmani stood by me when I started this journey and continues to give me ideas on marketing ads and table placement during my events. I love both of these men with all of my heart!
