We had the good fortune of connecting with Sem&Stènn Sem&Stènn and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sem&Stènn, how do you think about risk?
We consider ourselves as spontaneous risk takers since day one. When we released our first single “Baby Run” in 2016 we came out with the single cover showing us kissing. That was a strong statement of who we are. At that time, we were basically the first declared queer artists debuting in the music business, which was pretty odd to us. But then, years later, we got the point: artists don’t come out because they are scared of being labeled and outcast. That’s exactly what happened to us, even for the choices we made for our music body of work, experimenting new sounds that cannot be put in a specific box. And some people are very unconfortable to new stuff.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Behind every single/LP/Ep we put out, there’s an intense work that starts months before. Our creative process needs of both elements sound and vision to be fully inspired. We are really proud of every step we made in our career, the easiest way is often the wrong one. We have gone for what represents us and make us different.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
We are pretty much independent in everything we manage. Our shoutout is for each other.
