We had the good fortune of connecting with Sepideh Zarei and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sepideh, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over time, my work–life balance has improved a lot. At the beginning of my career, I was very focused on work and study, but I learned that maintaining balance actually helps me perform better. Now, I make sure to dedicate time to things that recharge me—like practicing yoga, creating content for my page, and traveling. These activities give me energy, creativity, and perspective, which I can then bring back into my work as a pharmacist. For me, balance is about being intentional with my time so I can grow both professionally and personally.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an international pharmacist, and it took me seven years of hard work and study to earn my degree. Alongside my pharmacy education, I also pursued my personal passion for skincare by completing several specialized courses. This allows me to combine both perspectives—I can provide professional skin consultations, critically review skincare products, and create educational content that truly resonates with people.

What sets me apart is that I am multidisciplinary. I bring the scientific, evidence-based lens of a pharmacist together with the practical knowledge of skincare, and I also understand how to communicate these ideas in a way that is engaging and accessible. My page is full of educational content on health, skincare, and haircare, and I’ve also taught multiple courses in this field.

Where I am today is the result of persistence, believing in myself, and the constant support of my husband. My greatest pride is seeing how far I’ve come on this journey. One of the toughest challenges I’ve faced has been the process of validating and equating my pharmacy degree in the United States—but overcoming it has taught me resilience and patience.

If there’s one thing I want people to know about me and my work, it’s that my mission is to empower others with knowledge. I want to make science approachable, to show that skincare and health are not just about beauty, but about confidence, well-being, and self-care.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to visit me in San Francisco, the first place I’d take them would be Lake Tahoe. It’s such a beautiful destination with amazing nature, a charming town, and fun activities. We’d spend the day relaxing by the lake, swimming, and just enjoying good conversations. In the evening, we’d explore the town, walk around, and take in the cozy atmosphere.

If we had more time, I’d definitely also show them some of San Francisco’s highlights—like the Golden Gate Bridge, the city’s unique neighborhoods, and some of its well-known museums. For me, the best balance is a mix of nature, relaxation, and the cultural side of the city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely dedicate my shoutout to my husband. He has always been my biggest supporter—encouraging me through challenges, motivating me when I doubted myself, and celebrating every small win along the way. His constant support has made it so much easier for me to balance my career, studies, and personal goals, and I truly wouldn’t be where I am today without him.
