We had the good fortune of connecting with Serein Wu and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Serein, what do you attribute your success to?
Before I ever started my business, I focused on trust with my audience. That trust I built is my number one priority when it comes to my brand and business and I believe it is why I am successful. Nothing is worth losing the years of trust I have built and I hope my audience knows that.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started posting content online as an outlet and escape. For me it was a way to help myself out of a pretty deep depression 7 years ago. The online community helped me connect with people around the world that had similar interests and it felt like I was less isolated. My journey through life and continued battle with depression seems to help others feel less alone as well. For me while I love creating content, it’s knowing that the content I create may help someone feel less isolated themselves is what brings me back everyday and keeps me going. Sometimes we need an escape and sometimes we need to just hear that we are not alone, I provide a variety of content to help others escape, learn, or relate to. From grief, joy, and even birth I always try to be honest with what is happening at each stage of my life and my content reflects.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start with a picnic at Lake Hollywood to enjoy the amazing weather and view of the Hollywood Sign, maybe a hike up Beachwood Canyon. Enjoy some amazing Mexican food at Salsa and Beer or some of my favorite street taco venders. Visit the Getty Museum, drive up the coast to enjoy the beach view and have a sunset dinner at Geoffrey’s Malibu. Grab a donut at Donut Friend in Highland Park. Have a coffee or tea at Alfred’s while walking down Melrose Place. All You Can Eat Korea BBQ Oo-Kook Korean BBQ in Korea Town Visit the Last Bookstore Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I first started uploading digital content, I was doing it in secret and embarrassed about it. No one in my personal life really knew. When I finally shared what I was doing with my husband, he was nothing but supportive with no judgment and that gave me the confidence to keep going.
